Limit the gray uni

There is a fine line between tradition and stagnation. I love the traditional uni but the Smokey grey looks sharp. We should use it more.

It is what it is, which is something I have no control over. If it were left up to me, those jerseys along with the black ones would never have seen the light of day, but obviously I have no say in the decision.

The argument that we MUST wear stuff like that to have a prayer of keeping up in recruiting just gets tiresome because it's so factually inaccurate. The team that has won 3 of the past 4 NC's hasn't changed their uniforms in over 50 years.

when Saban leaves Bama and their decline starts and these top recruits stops going to Bama then Bama will start changing uniforms and jocks an all. believe that. these things do matter in recruiting believe it or not.

That's not us guys. The replays and still photos of the UGA game irk me just a little. I have no problem with using the Gray uni once a year but no more than that. We are orange and white. That's our brand. And, yes i know that our performance on the field is what is most important. Flame away :machgun:

get rid off it,Adidas will have a new color scheme ready soon,so they can sell more shirts

Very true. I had an absolute blast. My daughter got to experience the "Real" Neyland stadium. She was so excited to hear how loud and excited the crowd was.

Neyland got it's second wind.

I wasn't there....but was glued to the TV. What a welcome site to see Neyland back to all its glory....rocking and rolling.

I didn't like them at first but once they got all sweated up, I liked them...Uh...I've been confused all day.

I love the orange and white as well....great colors...unique.....and everyone and their brother is some shade of red or blue. Our orange is unique.....but I love the smokey gray. Thought they were really sharp. I would have never thought that I would....but I did. Never liked the Kiffin version of black. And hope we don't go to black.....but the smokey gray....it is the best alternate uni I have seen for any university. Ga's power range uni was a joke a couple of years ago.

Those 50 recruits didn't show up because of the new uni's. They aren't gonna sign the dotted line because of them either. Butch Jones and UT tradition has gotten us this far with these recruits.

So I take it you dont like change...still got that tv from the 70's?

LOL, I will show my age. When did we start playing that god awful rap music [reminds me of minor league baseball minus the kids running the bases]. This was the 1st game I watched from outside the skybox in a few years. Also, looks like they raised the quality and selection of food since I last sat in the stadium.

I would love to see us wear a modern version of these too:

I always think of them as the Condredge unis. Would be great for neutral field games or even away games if we could get away with it. I think if they were really sharp they could be an extra reward for making it to a bowl.

All I have to do is check the stadium atmosphere, the performance of the players, and the response from recruits to form an opinion of an "alternate uniform." Get back to me about those points.

I like the gray and nobody can say it didn't add some much needed swagger. Next time we need to go with gray armor helmets.

Loved the gray and the efforts by the team and PIG! Freaking refs on the last GA drive killed us more than anything IMO!

I wish we could wear the Black uni's at the SCe game each year at home! Halloween theme etc...it was just cool as hell in 09. I wasn't sure if I could ever make another game coming off cancer treatments all summer and nearly dying. Getting to see that game live in the rain and cold and killing SCe was awesome!

Its not change. Its the fact that our orange on white is the better looking uni.

You love the traditional uni. I do too. They look great. The Smokey color is new to the program and also looks great. I don't see the problem. Change is not always a bad thing. You can respect tradition and like new things that are good. They are not mutually exclusive. And, the kids thinking about coming to Tennessee like them too. It may not be the deciding factor for them, but every little bit helps.

butch will bring out the grays for at least 1 game each year and maybe a bowl game

Here is what I wish we would do. And you could mix and match the following. Keep uniforms we have now , add a black jersery(which was our original jersery color ) add grey helmet with orange T and checker board stripe, add black helmet with Orange T and stripe , add Orange helmet with white t and stripe , add white helmet with numbers on each side like we had before the orange t with checker board stripe , add black pants . Also do a throwback jersey that is white with the top of the jersey at the shoulder pads Orange like we had back in the seventies. That would give us a lot of sharp options and touch a lot of the traditions we have had down thru the years

As long as they don't play a bunch of country crap, I'm fine.

Spending this much time obsessing about coordinating our outfits makes me wonder about you guys honestly. I mean far be it me to judge your lifestyle choices....

So how many points do these new jerseys allow us to score?

In the end, not enough. We'll see about the recruits in February.

This is an alternate uniform only, it's a nice change up, and it was done really classily unlike some that I have seen at Maryland and Oregon. The Vols are Orange and White, but the Smokey Grey is very sharp and have attracted a lot of positive attention from the national media and recruits. They are overwhelmingly a huge success for the University.

The greys look just like pajamas. Once a year is too much. Thank God they are on the shelf for the rest of this year.

That's you opinion, and you are entitled to it! But, you are very much in the minority, most love the Smokey Grey, so they are here to stay, you and the few other folks like you will just have to swallow your disdain, and keep quite for the greater good.

Please, grey armor helments suck!!! The grey uni's are great and look better than any other team that has decided to destroy tradition.

The grey uni's with the White helment and ORANGE T are great.

And once a year is also great.
