Looking like KJH is the play

Kellie is the perfect choice....

1. Former Lady Vol...
2. From the Summitt family...
3. A woman (which will keep most of the paying fan base happy)....
4. She's not expensive......
5. Her teams seemed to respect her....
6. Her teams played modern basketball....
7. She's attractive....(Phil is a man)
8. Should be (hopefully) acceptable to current players and recruits.
9. Wears a dress....
10. Loves Tennessee.....

11. Has adorable kids (but so does Walz).

I hope this is not the list the ADPF is using. The vast majority of your list has nothing to with being a good coach. CHW checked off several of those boxes. KJH actually has a worse record than our former coach.

Man, this site just can't get enough. Whether it turns out to be KJH or not, this is another unconfirmed statement made by a media person. This is the Footvols OC search all over again. Most agree ADPF made a good decision there. Give him the benefit of the doubt in this search. He has made good choices for coaches in other non-revenue generating sports to this point.

Attitudes certainly have quickly and fickly changed from "Anybody can do better than Holly" to "___ will be worse than Holly" and "I won't support any coaching hire except _____."

Truth. But it's the Tennessee Lady Vols Forum and Fickle-R-Us.

Whoever ends up with the job, I have hope (not knowledge - hope) because I firmly believe it will be an improved leader compared to Coach Warlick. I think the thing Holly was missing as a HC wasn't knowledge of the game. It was how to lead and motivate players.

After his time as HC here, fighting for raises for his assistants and enough cash to entice new assistants? I can see the narrative of Fulmer as a penny pincher.
kJ-H is the best of all worlds for Fulmer. I don't know which is more important, the LV connection or the pricetag?

Kellie seems like a great choice, but what happened to Walz? It probably says in the 250 posts here, but I can’t bring myself to read them all. Everyone was acting like Walz was a done deal.

I wouldn't say Kellie Jolly Harper was a great choice if she winds up getting hired as Tennessee women's basketball head coach;)

IMO Fulmer’s chief concern is his own legacy as an AD. Going cheap and possibly not restoring a once great program doesn’t shine a bright light on that.

What Harper can bring immediately is improved defensive intensity and structure; for a;ll the LVs failings on offense, they could have won 5 to 6 more games and hence had a much better seeding, if they could have closed out some games on the defensive end.
Their press was easily broken; they could not keep players from driving around them (even when having an apparent advantage in quickness); and the team's backdoor was always open.

I think Harper might work out in regard to keeping most current and incoming players on board but her ability to recruit at a top flight level is a total unknown.

It is very possible that she could get this team in a much better place next season (again assuming no major transfer losses) by just focusing on the details of defending and rebounding (echoing the Summitt era), but the question is what happens 2 or three years down the road? Can she reload the talent pool?

As with Gail G. Peck Walz, and all the other wish list names

Anyone who has Peck on their wish list needs to get their head examined. Gail shouldn't be compared to her in any way, shape or form. She didn't do well at Texas but it was way better than Peck did at Florida and much better than Jollie at NC State.

That's why we need to keep Sharonna Reaves on board.

Maybe, bit she's quit her last three coaching jobs.

Definitely a major asset. Whoever is hired needs an ace recruiter.

I'd like to see us have an attitude of "Here's what we can do for you and what we expect you to bring to the team." An attitude that says that we're looking for tough individuals who won't wilt under pressure and want to be coached up. Players who expect hard, intense practices going up against talented teammates. Players who understand their roles and the legacy. Above all, players who understand that it's a privilege to wear the Orange, will buy into the system and hold each other accountable, and have no quit in them.

It takes the right combination of talent and character to become champions.

I wonder how KJH would do with some of these rock star players who aren't used to discipline. Can that culture be built up again with this squad, or would that take a few years?

I like everything about her but it ultimately comes down to winning big at Tennessee and that is how she will be judged. In the SEC you have to have players that are aggressive and committed to playing hard for forty minutes. Let us hope that if selected she can do the job not a perfect record by no means coming in and the main concern seems to be recruiting but Tennessee is different with better players she could be a star. She will have to be Tennessee fans can be bitches and mean people and it doesn't take them long to get there.

IF they hire KJH expect an exodus of current players. They're not going to stick around and see how she works out. All they're going to see is a 50% win/loss record (considerably worse even than Holly) and the dismal seasons she had at NC State, her only other Power 5 job, before she was fired. We will lose several I believe. Someone like Walz or Goestenkors who has been to the final four and coached high caliber players to success could convince them to stay.
I am not sure that would be the case. She would be an upgrade from what we have now and might be a lot better. She would have a lot better support here than she has had at all the other places she has been. I am not for hiring some TV person who’s ego is bigger than the President’s.

Well just came from facebook and seems a lot of hell was raised about the Lady Vols being coached by a man. I don't know exactly who all these people were but seems that fulmer may have got a lot of heat form some groups or numerous fans or whatever. I think I could see a lot of them on facebook as most were saying they wouldn't buy tickets if it was a man which to me seems to be reverse discrimination working at UT. It should be the best person regardless of man or woman If this is true I hope this is not the way any AD will go about choosing a coach it is just not appropriate.
