Markeith Ambles is TEARING it up and has left USC (merged)

Give me a break. Ambles didn't screw over our fanbase. He left because the coach he wanted to play for ended up at another of his top schools. If you're cheering for an eighteen year old's misfortune it's you that has the problem.

First, I didn't say he screwed over our fanbase, I said he screwed with us, and he did. Second, I'm not cheering for an eighteen year old's misfortune. Not by any means. I just personally get sick of every thread like this that's about someone else's program having issues, and seeing it turned back around on our program, by our fans. I don't wish any ill-will on Ambles, but it's also not the least bit difficult for me to see why others would be interested in this, or their reasoning for it.

I would think it's the opposite. I personally don't care what happens at USC even close to as much as I care about what happens at UT. My personal hope is that Markeith ends up pumping gas at Pilot and gets robbed at pellet-gun point while eating a McD's cheeseburger during his lunch break

(last part is a joke and I hope the young man can get his head on straight and actually make something of himself)

Perhaps I didn't word that as well as I could have. All of the off-the-field issues we have are discussed at length in threads of their own. In every thread about another program's off-field issues, there are a handful of people that like to come in and bark about the troubles our program has, even though we have previously discussed those issues at length. I believe it's natural for most to leave those discussions in their respective threads, rather than harping on them time and again in every thread talking about what is happening to another program. I don't care nearly as much about what happens to USC's program either, but I don't think everyone needs to be reminded about Pilot incidents or bar fights when USC's program is brought up.

so you think there's no connection? No common thread between the head of the org?

Nuke was an idiot at UT but is tearing it up now and will be back in d-1 before too long. BB will be playing in a BCS conf next year too (and did nothing bad while at UT). Wouldn't be surprised to see Ambles make it eventually

and none of those guys were taken down by anyone but themselves

...and none for the guy they originally signed with. Notice a trend there?

He didn't screw with us. It's his decision. He did what he wanted. Suggesting your feelings as a fan matter even slightly is embarrassing. I don't see you slamming Da'Rick for switching from UGA at the last minute.

The comments about our team were made because a month ago a guy cheering everytime Montori Hughes trots onto the field wanted to say Markeith Ambles doesn't belong anywhere on a football field. That's ridiculous.

Yeah. Three players had some speed bumps and will likely do fine anyway. Countless others have had extremely successful careers. He'll keep signing highly rated players. Some will be stars. Some will underperform. Some will be busts. Pretty standard.

Dooley had a few players that were exclusively his guys this past class fail to make grades. Inferring from that that our upcoming class is going to struggle to qualify wouldn't be a smart move.

I didn't say there's no connection, or that there's not a common thread. I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. No need to try to infer things that aren't there. I just don't see why our teams issues need to be brought into discussions about other teams issues, when we previously discussed our teams issues at length.

I'm well aware that it's his decision. That has nothing to do with what I said. Like I said, it's understandable that people would take special interest in a player that handled his recruiting process the way Ambles did. It's slightly embarrasing that you can't see that. I also didn't suggest that my feelings as a fan matter, just that it shouldn't be hard for one to recognize why some would dislike Ambles for the way he handled his recruiting process. Why would I slam Da'Rick when he switched to the team I root for? I wouldn't act like UGA fans are crazy if they didn't like Da'Rick for that. I would understand because it's human nature. And whether you want to admit it or not, the way they handled themselves in the lead up to signing day makes a difference. The two situations are slightly different, from my perspective. Again though, I would understand if UGA fans didn't like him for it.
