Pearls last year was just over 19k so it's actually a 2500 attendance drop, another 2500 puts us at 14k which is still top 20 in the country. The hype is gonne be high for next year so I'm actually guessing attendance goes up and not down.
Once again, Lewis and VQ were consistently on the money through the whole football search in regards to what Hart was doing...did they say Gruden was coming here? No.
Like I've said, we can agree to disagree as neither one of us can prove the other right or wrong...I'm simply going off those who have a very good track record and what they're saying. Rememeber VQ is the same group that said Hart was looking for a way to keep Dooley around, if he would've beaten Vandy there was a lot of speculation he'd have been retained....how much had attendane dipped under him? Yet Hart was going to try and bring him back, just remember that.
I said Pearl era...Not Pearl's last year. The attendance his last 4 years were just shy of 20K. Of course there was a slight drop his last year with all the turmoil. Still 2,309 drop last year is very significant. Ticket sales alone is half his salary not counting concession. Another slow start next year and the attendance will drop again.
We were top 20 just about every year during the Buzz era....so that aint saying too much.
3 All SEC players in the starting rotation would be considered "talented".

Not even counting the new 5 star that will fit in just nicely.
I would give Martin a lot of credit for getting Stokes and improving McRae.
I don't know who the third would be. I don't think Golden was 1st or 2nd. Maybe you're referring to Maymon last year. Again, Maymon improved more than I could have dreamed during his first year under CCM.
Regardless, I wouldn't argue about our top 3 in Stokes, McRae and Golden. They are a great combo that we are lucky to have. The real drop off comes in the 5-12 spots. McBee, Miller, Yemi, Edwards, Quinten, Moore, Reece, Hall.
Not telling me anything I don't know or essentially disagree with...like I said though, remember it was widely speculated that if Dooley could've beaten Vanderbilt Hart would've retained Dooley. Look at how the attendance dippeded under Dooley, look at how many people weren't renewing tickets, how many boosters said they wouldn't donate...and Hart was still gonna bring him back.
And to say Martin hasn't been more successful than Dooley would be absurd so you'd have to think hart would give him a bit of a longer leash than he gave Dooley.
Like I've said a few times, I'm not saying I agree with this, it's just my opinion as to what Hart is thinking and would do.
Attendance really doesn't mean squat in the whole picture of how profitable the basketball program is. When you offer $5 to $7 dollar tickets and $90 season passes when your competition is getting $35 to $40 tickets, then really top 5 - 7 in attendance means nothing. Duke has half the attendance as UT, but more than twice the revenue.
There was no possible way that Dooley would have survived after last year if he beat Vandy or not. The only speculation I remember was which game he was going to get fired after.
He didn't? Where was I?
UT will have 3 of the 5 players in the starting rotation that has either been voted 1st or 2nd strind in the SEC.
Hart almost has to give Martin the extension. Otherwise, opposing teams will use the fact that Martin has only 3years left on his contract against UT in recruiting. Recruits don;t want to sign somewhere where they do not know who the coach will be in 3 years.Doesn't deserve either IMO.
Offseason could be time to evaluate Cuonzo Martin's contract » GoVolsXtra
