i love this forum. every day presents a new idea or topic presented in life-or-death arguments.

i think it's awesome that kiffin is getting UT's name back out there as a hunter of top talent

Wow, I can't believe we are still talking about this. No one is saying Kiffin shouldn't do his job and go after the guy. Just that it's a waste of time discussing it on this board when it's not likely to happen.

Can we get a thread police emoticon? Telling people on a message board what is and is not a waste of discussing is laughable. Most of what is discussed on here is a waste of time. How many topics that have very little likelihood of happening have there been on VN? Ignore the posts if you want to but don't tell me what I can discuss especially when you're quoting my response to someone else. :nono:

Kiffin will not have any trouble attracting top offensive talent from around the country! Plus, on D, Monte Kiffin will bring a bunch of D-studs!!!

Your right,he doesn't have to sign a LOI.So I guess that until he enrolls at USC he's fair game, and a Dec 20 visit is feasble.

i dont really believe we get him, but if he comes to visit, it would be for a reason. if he does enroll at USC then i would have to side with the 0% chance side.

If he does come in for a visit, and that's a big if... maybe CLK will have a chance at him. He said in the press conf. Monday that it wasn't even close between USC and TN in terms of facilities. That, coupled with the chance to start immediately could be just what the doctor ordered for Mr. Barkley.

There is no way we have a 50% chance. I repeat, there is no way we have a 50% chance.

He is from California, his family lives in California, he grew up a USC fan, and has a chance to redshirt and start in his 2nd year. We have a 1% chance at best.
So you're saying we still have a chance?!:)

I think that we would have a real chance at getting him if we can get some of the top WR'S.

It's interesting that he is coming in for a visit on the 20th when I think he's enrolling at USC on the 17th. That's the date for early enrollees.

We may have a shot with Aaron Murray, especially since UGA has two top 10 QBs committed and Kiffin visited him the other night, but we have no shot at Barkley.

This is what I've been saying.

It's gonna be tough to get in on Murray. Really, it's going to be tough to get in on any QB on this late date, especially an already committed one. Kiffin has to try though.

I agree with this. Barkley won't happen. However, if Kiffin will recruit Murray hard enough and play his cards right, I think he will give him a lot to think about. After all, Mettenberger's stock came up this year and he is a
4 star recruit as well. I'm not sure why Murray wouldn't be interested knowing the competition he will have at UGA versus the competition he will have at UT. I think we have a shot with him.

If everything works out.. Kiffin in the process of persuading.. id say there's a 50% chance of this actually happening... I heard he is overrated tho but most of his starting recievers are newcomers (fr, So)... Like i said its not confirmed but if it does happen this is the weekend that he would be welcome

Well, now there's one more poster I can ignore, trying to pass speculation as some sort of inside info.

IF he is going to make a visit, that in itself says a lot, to me. The guy's dad was a Trojan. and he has the Cali hair thing going. but you have to start somewhere. having lived in Long Beach for 5 years, there are a lot of good things out there, if you can get past the crime, mexicans and general ignore your fellow man thing. The charm of the south may be enough to give him a thing to think about for someone that has never expieranced it.

Kiffin made a big mistake letting go of Tajh Boyd.....you all say Murray but he is shorter not as fast and just does not have the poise Boyd does.......big mistake

No, he is taller than Boyd (though not by much), he is similar in speed, and it is stated on his scout profile that poise and moving around in the pocket are his best qualities. So you are way off on that.

But since they are so similar is why I think that Murray is not the best choice. If we were gonna get rid of Boyd to get a different QB then he should be like 6'5" with a rocket arm and good accuracy. Kinda like the other GA QB commit.
