There was no conspiracy.
Just gross negligence on the part of the people in charge of maintaining the power line infrastructure. And a gross misallocation of funds.
The conversation is about whether or not it's as crazy to blame CC as it is to blame space lasers. You shouldn't be a smartass when I'm the one saying it's not as crazy.
it's crazy. or worse, it's "never let a crisis go to waste" mentality.
can you provide a link? And Republicans are so good at policymaking, right?
Both parties are **** at policy. Maybe Republicans are slightly better, IDK, it's just hard to know since big cities are harder to manage. I'm from a small town and the Republicans are doing a great job to drive up the cost of living for no good reason. For example, policies have made it so that it doesn't make sense to build starter homes. You either build duplexes/4plexes, or monstrosities and prices for the old, existing starter homes are ridiculously high. Make the city 30x bigger. Make the government 30x bigger, and this **** gets out of control.
can you provide a link?
willing to bet what actually happened is they changed the zoning so that the R1 areas now allow for larger residential properties instead of just smaller single family houses.
Not sure if thats the case, but its pretty wide spread, and you heard a lot of right-wingers get all pissed off about the leftists banning single family houses when reality it was just expanding what was allowed. It would also be interesting considering your previous libertarian leanings to now be complaining about expanded property rights.
Nah, because I don't want to leave clues as to who I am and where I'm from (and I'm not even sure what I would find), but I do know one of the policy changes was that every standalone residence has to have it's own direct connection to the municipal water supply, which meant little 1200-1500 sq ft homes couldn't split the cost of sharing a forked line. Somebody explained this one little thing added $10k to the cost of building a small home.
CC is the ultimate boogey man. Too hot, CC. Too cold, CC. Too dry, too wet, too many fires, too little fires, too much snow, too little snow, too many hurricanes, too few hurricanes. It's all CC.This is closer to where I find myself. People can laugh about or just ignore altogether the space laser stuff but there is no "conspiracy" regarding climate change ideology and political agenda. Something that open isn't a conspiracy...it's a means to power and is being utilized in every possible context it can be shoehorned into.
Man Made climate change is close to the Left’s equivalent of -CC is the ultimate boogey man. Too hot, CC. Too cold, CC. Too dry, too wet, too many fires, too little fires, too much snow, too little snow, too many hurricanes, too few hurricanes. It's all CC.
The best way to know it is political is there is never a benefit attributed to CC. Like I would love to see record crop harvest this season due to CC. Or area previously hit hard by drought completely re hydrated due to CC.
At least there would be some pro con to the boogey man.
Are those hotel rooms the only thing that’s available?EXCLUSIVE: FEMA Officials are Staying at $1,000-A-Night Luxury Hotels in Maui amid recovery efforts in Lahaina
Bungling U.S. government bureaucrats dispatched to the Maui disaster zone are shacked up in $1,000-a-night luxury hotels on the Hawaiian island, DailyMail.com can reveal.
Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have been slammed by locals over their slow response to the devastating wildfires that have claimed at least 114 lives and left thousands of people homeless after their houses were scorched to the ground.
The beachside resorts are popular among the rich and famous and located about a 45-minute drive away from the fire-ravaged town of Lahaina.

10k sounds like the cost of a meter. There is no way 10k is just underground piping for the last 10/20/50ft. That is surprising it exists in the first place because I would think each home would want to be billed separately, instead of splitting their neighbor's cost. I honestly haven't heard of a forked line like that.Nah, because I don't want to leave clues as to who I am and where I'm from (and I'm not even sure what I would find), but I do know one of the policy changes was that every standalone residence has to have it's own direct connection to the municipal water supply, which meant little 1200-1500 sq ft homes couldn't split the cost of sharing a forked line. like Grand mentioned, this is for all utilities, and it was part of the green rollouts that Obama launched way back when. I can't remember which one dealt with water utility hook ups because there was a lot of overlap and some things that didn't make sense why they were included in one and not another. I think it was actually under one of his Patriot Act expansions, something about houses being safer if they are connected to the grid. Quiet in contrast with his green initiative. It was either a Patriot Act expansion or one of his zoning "toolkit" grant program requirements. and there was probably something for water too under his Clean Water Rule. He pushed through a TON of changes that actually added costs, making zoning and building much more expensive. The opposite of what he said he was trying to do, just like with Obamacare.

Idk, maybe they had one meter that could track two lines separately. I guess its possible, I just haven't heard of it. the other way to look at it is 10k is a lot more than the underground for a single family house should be. If you are in the desert it could be a hook up fee costs more. I know most municipalities require a pretty hefty connection fee, completely separate from usage, so maybe they just added that cost to your town.I know nothing about construction and there is probably more to it than what I can explain. Does it necessarily mean they don't each have their own meter? I don't think that's what was happening

An excellent article. About halfway through.posted this article in another thread - it's a long read but it touches on the idea of the never ending catastrophe narratives
