Maybe the problem isn't with Jay Graham, Tee Martin, Vonn Bell...

Yeah, for all the people that defend Jones so fiercely I don't think there are many who would actually put money on him being the guy to take us back to a BCS bowl.

Don't know about betting on him. What I will do is support my favorite team's and alma maters new head coach as he does his best to turn the program around. Especially when I see him busting his arse to save a recruiting class in 2 months, out promoting the program in any venue and medium that he can, and embracing the traditions and former players that have made our football program great over the years. Simple as that. I'll reserve my negative criticisms for him when he's earned them by showing us that he's not the guy for the job. I hope that will never be necessary.

It isn't like Graham had THE secret to how to run the ball. Coaching running backs is about instilling and repeating sound fundamentals. Those principles are basically the same they have been for decades.

VN when we hire a good RB coach: "Great hire! I'm excited to see how much better our run game is with someone who actually knows what he's doing"

VN when we lose a good RB coach: "All he was teaching was fundamentals, everyone knows them and anyone can coach them. We didn't need him."

That means you wouldn't do it. We can pat him on the back for trying, or whatever, all we want to...but I don't think many people actually think he's the answer if they're honest with themselves.

Way to cherry pick there chief. I don't bet but if I did, the ONLY coach in the country I'd bet in would be, shocker, Saban. And I do think he has a chance to be the answer, honestly. I'll support the guy til he shows me I shouldn't. Not b*tch and gripe about what he is and isn't 24/7 like a lot of guys on this board.

Everyone knows you'll "support him until he proves he sucks" and blah blah. Do you actually think he's taking Tennessee to a BCS bowl?

A BCS bowl? Hell yeah, i do. Dont know exactly when but yes I do. Don't know for sure, neither do you. Difference is I'm willing to give him a chance. Did you think Phil was ever gonna take us to a national title? I'll answer it for you- hell no.

...maybe it's the guy in charge? I like alot of the stuff Butch Jones says, but you have to wonder when all these guys say their heart is here but choose to go elsewhere as a "business decision"...they've seen this program up close, maybe Jones isn't what we want to believe he is. Maybe there's a reason he can only get mid major coaches or guys no one else wants for his staff (and has to give them huge raises to do so)?Maybe there's a reason he can't sign any of the top recruits who visited? Maybe, when you see things close-up, you see no progress being made.

Hope this is not the case but Graham leaving certainly throws up a red flag or at the very least gives you pause to think.

Bring Cuonzo to Gainesville this season and let some of his mojo rub off on the football team. Dude is a gator killer.

I'm a little late to the party here, but you have to be kidding me? Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but the fault lies with Dooley. He broke long time relationships with former players, high school coaches, and future players that CBJ couldn't repair in 3 months. We just can't melt down over CJG leaving. I honestly believe the reason was money, less travel in recruiting, and easier academic standards to get players in. Cheek and Hart want us to become the new Harvard and its going to destroy this program if they don't wake up. Hopefully CBJ turns it around, or our top donors see this glaring problem and run booger picker out of here.

People have already stated it, but the problem lies mostly above Jones (Cheek and Hart...mostly Cheek). Hamilton is partially to blame for hiring the abortion of a head coach (Dools) in the first place.

I think you have a serious fetish with me because every time I post on here you make a comment toward my post. You keep it up and Volnation is going to start seeing your a little sweet on me. Plus, my girlfriend might get a little jealous; she doesn't like people trying to shuck her corn...

I thought it was crap that Tee didn't come here. However, after Jay's departure, I agree with the OP - I'm beginning to think we hired a complete joker.

Jones should have won at lease One national championship by now. Three months including one month recruiting and this is all we get?

I never said he wasn't the answer. But I think warning signs need to be recognized and questions need to be asked. Unlike the Doolovers with their "wait until the first game", "wait until the season's over", "wait until he has all his recruits", etc. silliness, I believe in making evaluations at every step along the way. Otherwise, why even post here?

After a poor recruiting class, an inability to sign any top notch assistants, and now your best recruiter leaving, you have to wonder about Butch Jones' ability to rebuild and compete in the SEC.

So what you really meant is that Jay Graham can't recruit ?

I agree.

A coach some people wanted to come here didn't! A coach some people think was the best recruiter on the staff left for another job! What is going on at UT? There needs to be an investigation now!

Oh wait. NM. The multiple "insiders" on VN in all of there infinite wisdom have already done that.

Judges. Jurors. Executioners. Got to love VN.

Every time? You have 700 posts...I doubt I've responded to more than two.

If you're the kind who is worried about getting responses then you need to learn about the ignore button.

Anywho. I thought the part about JG leaving because Hart and Cheek have turned us into the Harvard of the south was funny...I thought you were going for laughs.

My bad.
