Megan Rapinoe & The US Soccer Team

We are paying the societal cost because the concept symbolized in the SoL is running headfirst into the corrupt politics of the day. We cannot hold the concept AND support the expanded safety net. Either the concept remains and the socialism abates or the concept wanes and the socialism remains. Sobering are the circumstances our politicians created for us because we could not trust in our own freedom.

But remember, you don't care about the government going bankrupt because you see it as an inevitability. Burn this bitch down, amirite? You're presenting a false dichotomy. As I stated yesterday, you can use migrant labor to prop up the safety net.

The greatest economist of the 20th century said illegal immigration is a good solution because it satisfies the needs of the economy while limiting the burden on the safety net. Many illegals pay into the system and get no/limited benefits. If Trump had his way, the economy would suffer terribly (not to mention liberty is squashed). If crying Chuck got his way, government budgets would suffer terribly. Surprise, surprise, solutions presented by 3rd party peeps are the best options.

We live in a time when so many people are either highly sensitive or they just like to complain about anything they can. I have watched the replay of the famous USA VS USSR hockey game from the 1980 Olympics 5 or 6 times on YouTube over the years. ... Goalie Jim Craig (who stopped 36 of 39 shots - most of the 3rd period was played right in front of his net), was famously draped in an American flag during the post-game celebration and asked "Where's my dad?" as ABC cameras approached him. Upon spotting his father, he dropped the flag on the ice (it was later picked up by a fan who sold it at auction). It was an accident and amazingly, nobody complained about it back then or interpreted it to be disrespectful. The platforms that the internet has provided has given everyone a public voice and also created a culture of whining over the silliest little things.
I don't remember Jim Craig saying that he wouldn't "go to the f*****g White House," and talking trash.

That’s also to say nothing of the immigrants we , as a country then , used up and tossed aside as little more than a slave work force to build this country . The poem is sentimental , it has real value in our minds as long as we don’t dig too far down into the hard facts that not every immigrant getting off the boat got 40 acres and a mule and was told to go west .

No. You aren't right. That reply was specific to your assertion immigrants can help revenue because you don't see the social programs going anywhere. If true, we might as well go bankrupt and rebuild. I still have a modicum of hope we can turn the ship around. I admit that hope vacillates between "some" and "almost none", though.

The greatest economist has the potential of getting something wrong occasionally. I like immigrants. I rent a home to a family with 1st gen American kids in the house. They are good people. I don't trust the politicians when it comes to immigrants. And, if we have to close the doors for a while we get our house cleaned up before we can invite other guests in, I think that is what we need to do.

Your last sentence sounds very reasonable, so...………………......…....no way.

Something that I do believe is still true to this day as it was in the 1800s...most immigrants are hard workers and bust their arses far more than the rest of us. The family I rent to for example, if you are old enough to work, you work.

I don't worry as much about the first generation of illegals because they are hard workers. It is when the second generation decides they don't want to toil like their parents and learns how to game the system.

You don't trust politicians but you are going to trust them to get our house cleaned up....

Saying Friedman could be wrong is not an argument.

I either don't notice it or that doesn't go on a lot in my area.

I will take good immigrants over home grown American trash of any color every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I trust you and me. I trust the people of this country. I don't trust our current version of politicians.

I agree with that. I have no problem with anyone that pulls their weight if they are able. I just wish that one trash family had to leave when one new family comes in.

this is an immigration policy I fully support.

Can we start with some trash out of my extended family?

So how are you and I going to clean our house up? Especially after we've banned all the cleaning ladies?
Ok, that made me LOL. so, +1 for that.

I don't know how, yet. Maintaining faith in others and solutions currently unknown is very challenging though. It is so much easier for me to hate everyone and be hopeless. If we can unite against the ruling elites in some way, we will make it.

So, we'll open up immigration once we've guillotined the 1%? Sign me up.

The women's team provides a greater revenue stream than the men's does. Higher tv ratings. The spend less. The economics are in their favor and have been for the last few years.
Women’s Revenue is a fraction of the Men’s for the World Cup.

Men - $6 Billion
Women- $131 Million

This is just for the WC (which the men didn't even make in 2018) and it's for the entire world, not the US. Women's soccer is a much bigger revenue driver in the US than it is anywhere else. You have to compare total USWNT revenue to total USMNT revenue.
