Meyer stepping down

....he is the biggest media wh*ore around. He is slated to play Joe Paterno and Penn State in the Outback Bowl. And instead of everyone talking about JOE PA like they should be, and asking if HE is going to retire, they are going to be talking about Urbie. He just has to have the spotlight AT ALL TIMES! Why not just wait until after the bowl game to announce it.

No class.....at all!

i guess he is "drunk"

Do any of you guys think that maybe he wants the Broncos' job?? It dawned on me a little while ago that maybe he wants to be with Tebow again? I could be crazy but it's definitely something to think about.

Why would the Broncos want him. He doesn't run a pro style offense, so the chances of any NFL team wanting Meyer right now seems slim. It wouldn't be smart to quit a job for another unless he knew he had the other job. Are you speculating the Broncos have offered him the job?

Because he's college football's lenox lewis. Retiring at the height of his career for reasons I don't really buy. Plus he was the coach at florida, a program most of us vol fans don't care for. Why wouldn't we bash meyer?

He cited coaching in a 24/7 profession taking a toll on him. Most people put up with it because they aspire to get where he is now, a place he hasn't been too long. So without other factors it seems like a strange time to throw in the towel. If he thought he could keep winning at the level he did with timmy, he wouldn't be retiring. He wants his legacy to be something it wouldn't be if he kept coaching and he knows it and anybody who sees what's going on knows it. That's my take anyway

Or maybe he just wants to retire because he's accomplished everything there is to accomplish in college football....none of us really know. It's his decision, let him be.

Tebow has stated in an interview that he was closer to Mullen & family than he was to Meyer & family, so why all the Meyer chasing Tebow to Denver BS?

Maybe he wants the 49ers job so he can re-connect with Alex Smith. (Is he still with the 49ers?) :)

His timing and second attempt at retiring is what is drawing all of the attention. Doubt most here and in the media will "let him be".

Then why did he come back this year? He didn't accomplish anything this year that he hadn't already accomplished other than maybe getting the Outback to pick a lesser team.

I don't see how many coaches do it as long as they do. They are away from their families constantly and really miss out on stuff if they have kids. I probably couldn't do it as long as they have.

None of us know

I think that's why everyone is questioning his reasoning this year. It can be viewed as he knew he couldn't win without Tebow so he wanted to retire last year. Foley talked him into believing he could win without Tebow, but this year proved his originally feeling accurate and thus he retires. If he hadn't "Farved" his retirement last year, I doubt he gets as much (he'd still get some) disbelief in his reasoning.

He's already won without Tebow regardless of what you think.

Is Urban supposed to be penalized for having Tim Tebow?

No, but he shouldn't be rewarded as a great coach until he proves he can do it without Tebow. If he had replaced Tebow with someone else that took him to another NC, the "can't win by himself" stuff would disappear.

It comes across as if he's scared of failure and would rather quit than risk failing.

He's already proven he can do it without Tebow.

Chris Leak took him to his first NC. Alex Smith took him to his first BCS game win. All this "can't win without Tebow BS" is just that. Gators were 9-4 in Tebow's first year as a starter.

you guys act like tebow is the only good player he recruited what kind of dumb ass thinking is that? or that theres no more dual threat QB's

the 2 QB's in the title game are dual 1 of which will be the heisman winner and urban recruited him

and lets forget percy and he won a title with leak

now go back to acting like he cant win without tebow

All those highly recruited players tore it up this year too. Congrads on the Gator Bowl.
