Meyer stepping down

It's easier, but I'm not sure Gruden would want it more.

"I don't know why anybody with a gig like Gruden has would want to create a situation where he has to work hard again."

That was my point, FL is a great gig, for someone PASSIONATE about coaching College football, but for a guy in Gruden's position, FL is not any more appealing than any other coaching job

SPECULATION-

Does anyone think the FBI investigation into Cam Newton's recruitment has anything to do with this? Meyer's first retirement last year was when the FBI opened their investigation. UF got Newton first, maybe Meyer knows something is coming that he doesn't want to deal with ala Pete Carroll.

yea when you put a ton of guys in the NFL the yr before theres usually a big drop off

I agree with a drop off but not usually a big drop off. There is a possibility that Gators and UT could end up with the same final record. That is a huge drop off.

He won at BG an Utah, and won that NC with Chris Leak taking the majority of the snaps.

Well, Bobby Johnson won at Fruman and Dave Clawson won at BG, so I guess They are on the same level as Meyer using your BG and Utah arguement.

No arguement against Chris Leak taking the majority of snaps. I would argue about Leak taking the majority of key snaps. Tebow took some critical short yardage snaps that contributed to at least two wins that year. Without the key snaps by Tebow, FL doesn't win the NC that year.

yea well we didnt just lose players we lost 2 great coords too

agreed. they dont beat TN that year without tebow

he announced it now to save recruiting. if he waits till after the bowl, it could kill their recruiting. i still hope it does regardless

Prove this statement. Prove that a fullback couldn't have gotten those same yards.

And he won a BCS bowl at Utah

Which would indicate Meyer wasn't as responsible for the success as everyone thought. Saban has consistently lost assistants, but he continues to win. Coaches are as successful as the guys under them allow them to be, but great coaches make sure you don't miss a beat when a replacement is required.
