'20 MI OL Justin Rogers (Kroger Field, folks)

This will be the worst year of recruiting under Pruitt -- and that's a good thing. The new car smell wore off a little earlier than we expected, but we've won 9 game combined the past two years. Elite kids aren't going to be lining up to hop on to save a sinking ship until the staff can prove it's no longer sinking. Gonna have to save it with lower ranked kids through development before these kids stop trolling us and actually want to come here. Laying an egg in the NFL draft after a 5 win season doesn't lead to a big recruiting summer. Ever.

If we go 7-5 or 8-4, we will get several elite kids before the late signing period. Gonna have to be patient this year and prepare for a lot of misses.

If it's worse than the 2018 cycle, they might as well shut the program down lol

Can't really evaluate until after the camp bumps and summer visits. Some of the guys we're counting on are going to travel around and enjoy things a bit before announcing-- and their parents and coaches are advising them to do that. If the dominos fall the other way in July and August, there'll still be plenty of time to worry.

IIRC we got Ramel and Wanya about this time last year. But I get your point.

For me it’s mostly this staff really likes a lot of in state guys. This staff is putting on the full court press for said in state guys. Any one of them could jump in and help peer recruit/build momentum. By all accounts they all really like UT. But all of them keep talking about how they’re gonna wait until months later and take a bunch of visits.

There was hope Rogers was in the boat and was gonna commit a visit or two ago. Now we’re behind Kentucky???

BJ Ojulari was gonna announce this month and we had a ton of momentum with him, and now he’s like naw I wanna take more visits.

Rakim felt like a vol but we saw how that turned out.

It’s just frustrating.

Big picture, I know it’s gonna be a-okay in the end. But I just feels like we have zero momentum right now.

I mean we got an elite recruiter at WR coach, and elite QB commit, and instant playing time. Feels like there should be receivers lining up to commit. Nope tho.....
I hear ya, it would be more fun if we had a few more commits in the boat currently. But our staff is loaded with elite recruiters and coaches, they didn't suddenly forget how to do their jobs. It's only May 6th, so I'm going to sit back and let them do their jobs and choose not to assume there's something bad going on behind the scenes. And if we don't get a bunch of commitments this summer, fall and winter and finish outside the top 12 in recruiting nationally I'll begin to worry a tiny bit. But until then I'm going to give guys like Tee Martin, Brian Niedermeyer, Jim Chaney, Tracy Rocker, Derrick Ansley and Jeremy Pruitt the benefit of the doubt. They all have proven track records of being very good at their jobs.

Meh. He had one month really since we hired him so late. Still pulled guys like Bryce Thompson, JJP, DWA etc. who had never even considered UT before he was hired.

That wasn't a knock on Pruitt. Just more so the quality of the class. Wasn't much he could do about it considering the time he had as you had mentioned. I don't expect this class to be worse than that.

*Clemson, Alabama and other top programs are landing multiple 4 and 5 stars*

"Nothing to worry about. NSD is months away, it's only May."
The 2 National championship teams and top programs are landing recruits?
Well why didn't someone say so, that changes everything?
I'm freaking out, man.

No, but the recruiting prowess of this staff (3 national recruiter of the year winners) is capable of much more. Win this year and top 3-7 classes should be reasonable.

LSU make the playoffs? Florida too?
I've noticed you struggle and I'm not the type to mock that issue, let me just give a hint and no one else has to know. 👍

This is reasonable. Everyone has their cut off about when they get concerned about Recruiting. I agree that early May is early to worry about who is committed, but I do like to see momentum. I don’t see that right now, so to me, that is concerning.

I mean no offense to you, but this type of post is just as much baseless speculation as “sky is falling” type posts. Which is fine, there are many different viewpoints that are worthy of debate.
exactly.

it's may. it doesn't matter right now.....

we have 6 committments. maybe things haven't gone like we wanted them, or even as many thought as planned, up to this point.

none of it matters though. it's May.

if we're still sitting on a 30ish ranked class by Thanksgiving...then we can start freaking out....if it's hovering around the top 10, then we can start partying.

for now...........................................................do what you want with the little information we have.

We have a stud QB and 2 possible impact DL guys. IMO, once this class gets rolling we are going to climb the ladder real quick. I predict that by July 4th we will be a lot closer to top 10 than top 30. Hopefully another strong finish this season will land us inside the top 10.

Here’s the deal. We go 5-7 or worse then this class will be horrid. Bailey might decommit. Win 7 then we will blow up. Just got to see we are heading in the right direction. I am a fan with money in this and I want to see results on the field even more so than recruiting wins right now. Recruiting with these guys will be great if they produce on the field.
