Miami vs Florida

Maybe I'm just trying to be hopeful. I'm flying home from Colorado for that game, and it would be nice to, you know, win.

I'm not counting on it, but it could happen!

I would enjoy that so much..
I was openly angry and hateful tonight towards a lot of things.

at one point i said "DEAR GOD in heaven" and then i was like "oh WAIT... DEAR TIM in GAINESVILLE"

like yelling

it got bad.

hahaha my best friend is a miami fan.. we were texting and i was like "atleast injure tebow for us" and he goes "can't... they'd stop the college football season til he was back healthy"

we were being insane.

I thought this guy on my site summed it up pretty good

ok i just finished watching the game. sorry, but that was (expletive) . congratulations urban, you just picked a fight with the very last program in CFB that you want to mess with. even if miami isn't good enough to run it up on you the next time you play, they will just cheap shot you all game. it won't be viewed as classless by hurricane fans (or seminole fans for that matter), in fact it will probably go down in miami lore.

maybe worst of all was the absolute ass kissing from herbstreit and musberger as the whole thing went on. ask yourself this, how would they have reacted if miami had run up the score on uf? it would have been "same old miami" and "randy shannon's better than this" and a bunch of scolding for the evil hurricanes. when uf does it, they just get more worship.

I hear ya right there.. definitely. If miami even throws up 23-3.. I can hear herbstreit saying "We don't need that, just run the football, show some class, and get out of here with a win"

Another example, that i will continue to b*tch about...

On percy harvin's touchdown run:

If that's tennessee, or almost anyone else, they RIP the referees for missing a holding call on the wide receiver

It's florida, so they run it back and actually POINT OUT how nice of a hold it was by the florida player.

I keep hearing so much about the "talent" on this team, but I'm just not convinced. Sorry. I respect y'all's opinion and hope you are right, but talent is as talent does, regardless of what it is coached to do.
I don't see it either. Resembles a average football team just like the average coach thats coaching it.

Something funny going on down in Gainesville. UF has too many cases of last minute scoring while already up big, just to cover the vegas point spread. Again last night. Too often to be a coincidence.

Urban never calls off the dogs. In a way i like it. But i don't like him. They wore on a young miami team. It went about like i expected. One things for sure. Miami's not too far from being a really good team again.

Does anyone think him running up the score will cause recruits to shy away from him since it's kind of a taboo thing to do?

I think kids in South Florida respect it. UF does not seem to be so heavy into recruiting the Mormon kids from out west and the Pennsylvania Quaker types.

I think it's going to be harder for UF to try and go down to the Miami area and recruit kids they love their city and their U and urban just slapped them in the face

Urban slaps everyone in the face. He's going to come up here and slap us in the face next.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with not calling off the dogs. Whatever floats his boat. But the last minute deep balls and field goals to cover the spread is catching my attention.

Yeah, those kids in Miami will decide to finally pull the trigger on going to Miami rather than Florida because Florida scored a field goal at the end of the game in 2008 and it was a slap in the face of Miamians.

Where is that roll eyes icon, please?

Good game LG, but I think we have a good shot of winning in Knoxville now. Miami hung tough for quite a while, the score not being indicative of the actual game IMO (of what I saw anyways).

You are giving our Defense too much credit. Florida will roll all over us.

Miami has good athletes and they had an excellent game plan. I think Florida was very fortunate to win the game.

Against UT, and without the benefit of seeing how your team responds in the UAB game, I think Florida will be favored by about 8-10, and rightly so.

But 10 point favorites lose all the time.

As to the other discussion we are having here, let me add this. In professional football, with their playoff system, winning is the only thing. In college football, with the beauty contest that sometimes develops to pick those top two teams, winning isn't the only thing. Winning by a good margin is the only thing.

Please stop, just admit your fan base loves it. You want to rub it in peoples face. I live here LG, I listen to talk radio, you guys want to run it up on every team you play.

Honestly tell me why Tebow and the starters were in the game with 2 min left up 20.

Classless people, it's the culture at FU. Spurrier started it, and Urban is just trying to keep it going for your classless fan base.:the_finger:

Irony at it's best.

I hear the trigger pulling kids prefer the FL schools.

I honestly understand was law is saying with the beauty contest thing.. Not sure that is why you always show no class and chuck it deep with 2 minutes left, but i understand your point.
Also, in reference to that, I think that if all the pollsters watched the games they would sometimes think "That game was close, they didn't beat them as bad as the score shows, they just got some garbage points at the end.." So in that case, it could hurt y'all, if anyone has that view.

I have no problem with the starters being in, and no problem with y'all being in spread formation with playmakers in... That is your offense. But run a zone read play and hand it off to a tailback until the clock runs out. It won't hurt you.

I actually thought the same thing as I wrote it. Especially given some of the gun-related problems we have had with our players of late (don't get me started).
