Monumental win for Jones. The fact that the

"Monumental" is an incredible overstatement, it but ending the season with a win is never a bad thing.

...don't believe that?

Then consider the train of misery that would have followed a loss, last night.

You're proving my point. The train of misery would have taken us into the abyss. Don't think we would have recovered for a long time.

You want to give credit for

1. the team not quitting

and

2. beating Kentucky

You call this "monumental". I say it's the bare minimum expectation. Maybe we can hand out cookies and blue ribbons for this great accomplishment.

The fact that you think I'm an idiot for this and you believe that you're making some kind of profound statement tells me all I need to know about your particular level of genius.

You don't even understand my argument. How can you call it foolish when you don't even understand it? I don't use words like idiot or foolish because they might come back to haunt me.

....we're already in the abyss.

Losing last night would have affected us more so than the team, Imo.

Your argument from the OP isn't exactly quantum physics. You want to believe the win is "monumental" because it meant the kids didn't quit and it will, additionally, somehow affect recruiting, like recruits were actually waiting on pins and needles to see the effort level of the Vols for the UK game.

No, I think foolish was pretty spot on.

No, it is monumental for Jones and his ability to possibly resurrect the program. If we had lost then it would have irreversibly prevented this IMO by affecting the team psyche and the psyche of VOLNATION. And, yes if you don't think "some" of the recruits might be second guessing their choice you don't understand human nature. I guess this is where I should throw an insult back at you but I'll leave that for you.

I can't believe Vol fans will argue over a win! Al Davis said it best, "JUST WIN BABY." Let's all go into the off season at 1-0 and find something a little more constructive to argue about.

Can we all agree to the following in no particular order:
1. Florida sucks
2. Alabama sucks
3. Saban the elf coached a poor game against Auburn
4. Kiffin got fired
5. Dooley got fired
And last but not least
7. BETTER DAYS ARE AHEAD!

Merry Christmas!

Feel free to add more! I like the Gators have a worse record than us and will keep Moldchump as their coach!

The resurrection starts with winning against a program that hasn't won an SEC game in two years, got it. If we lost to UK, Jones should have been forced to walk back to Knoxville and clean out his office upon arrival, which should have been done to Dooley.

If recruiting hinges on us beating a horrible UK team, then Jones isn't the recruiter many believe him to be. No one defected after a pretty pathetic loss to Vandy.

"Saban the Elf" now that's a new one. Yes he made a tactical error in that game. He got out-coached at the end.

Dooley got fired? From Dallas?

Come on man, get the Christmas spirit. ... He didn't so your post is a moot point! Let's see some VOL LOVE being spread around here! :)

This isn't about arguing a win, it's about having a sense of pride and standards. The day we celebrate a win against Kentucky as important or "monumental" is the day we need to disband the football program or join the OVC. The last few years have allowed some to so dilute the expectations one should have for the type of program of UT's caliber that we now are just happy to beat anyone and call it a great thing. No, it's good to win, but the bar is higher than this. Much higher.

The day a win over Kentucky is considered "monumental" is the day Tennessee becomes the Colorado of the east, and is permanently done as a legitimate power in college football.

Despite your confrontational attitude I still love ya man! Hang in there as all programs have highs and lows and we are on the way :whistling: back to the top ... As CBJ said so well "poise, relax, poise, relax." A few more wins monumental or not and I think you will come around!

Sad...a win against a 0 SEC win Ky is considered "monumental"...oh man, we better improve next season....
