Name your most hated ESPN analyst

Agree to disagree I guess. But back to work for me. Damn if I'd only kept up that promising little league career. BTW there are a lot of good athletes on here apparently. What are you doing settin behind a computer? Go make some money with all that God given athleticism.

I picked up golf after I finished my more physical athletic career. I'll assure you that I fared fine at the other sports and that golf is easily the most difficult of all of them to excel in.

I'm not calling myself an athlete, just saying that I can likely beat you at most sports.

How very bold of you to make that claim with no way to back it up. I'm sure that you're feeling all puffed up now that you've disclosed your athletic prowess. There's no doubting the difficulty of golf. The difference in golf and other sports is whether you can still perform when someone who is bigger, faster, stronger and more talented than you is in your face? Oh and by the way, I'm referring to me :)

So out of all the good athletes in golf, none of em were athletic enough to play another sport professionally. Sounds like to me you don't have to be all that athletic to play golf.

You hear all the time about kids turning down offers to do this or do that to play other sports. You have all the multi-sport recruits, and kids that have to choose what sport to play in college. When is the last time you heard about a kid being recruited to play football, basketball, or baseball but would only come if he/she could play golf as well.

Baseless argument. Golf is a fall and spring sport. There have been a few football players who have played college golf, but most aren't on top of their games enough to contribute to the golf team. Most guys can play after they graduate when they have time to work on their game since most football and basketball players don't go on to play football or basketball professionally.

You are digging yourself deeper, pard. You aren't going to come close to winning this one

not good enough.

In order to be a great golfer, you must be a good athlete, plain and simple

You can't win this one Tennessee T, you're not nearly informed enough

You're high. John Daly won a major. Most would say it takes a great golfer to win a major. Now are you honestly gonna try to tell me Daly is a good athlete plain and simple?

Officially/successfully highjacked.

I guarantee you that under all of the recently added flab, Daly is one helluva athlete. Guy is exceptionally long, incredible touch, great hands and can putt at the PGA tour level.

He's a mental midget and won two majors on pure athletic ability.

agree 100%. Some guys will never get it.

BTW, which game are you coming over for this fall?

Have you ever played an actual athletic sport or do you only play golf and pretend to be athletic? Golf is a sport in the way that bowling or darts is a sport. For God's sake there is a senior tour! I'm not knocking anybody who plays golf. I play from time to time and have a lot of fun making a fool of myself but you are fooling yourself if you think you're an athlete because you play golf.

I was 2 time all conference in baseball in college. We finished my senior year ranked number 5 in the country. I lettered 4 times.

Also, in high school I ended my career with 11 letters in 3 sports.

So to answer you question, nope, never played anything other than golf in my life...

Yea, your idea that some people that are the best in the world at something also happen to be really good at some other relatable activities is right up there in the stratosphere.

Before you call someone else an idiot you should check yourself. What does skill at golf have to do with athletic talent at football or basketball? Nothing!! Like he said, the point went over your head.

WOW!!!! I've been a great athlete all this time and didn't even know it! :dance2:

Next time my gf ask me how I do that so well I'm gonna say "Baby! I'm one helluva athlete."
now I'm starting to understand where you're coming from in your POV.

First, I never called him an idiot, learn to read better. Second, nothing went over my head, he never made a point.

Besides Bo or Deion, name one professional athlete who could have excelled as high at another professional sport?

And I don't call being an all-state QB BS or just being all region in basketball. A great athlete is a great athlete. I am fairly certain, like BPV, I am a better athlete than most on this thread and in this forum. I can say in my informed opinion, being a +2, that golf is an athletic sport. Anyone can learn to hit free throws too. i would equate that to a 15 handicapper. In fact, virtually every guy I played collegiate golf with were good athletes.

You have to be a good athlete to be a good golfer! That's a joke, right? I'm going to assume you're joking and aren't that stupid or I might lose faith in humanity! Ha, ha! Thanks for the laugh!

I said great golfer...and yes, you do. Laugh all you want. Just let me know the next time you shoot 68 from the tips

I know enough to know that you are an absolute joke and that I would have no problem beating you at that which you claim to be good at.
I'm assuming you have some credentials to merit this. Maybe you have some varsity letters from having played college ball? Maybe hs ball? or are you just talking from a basis of nothing, as per usual?

you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. When you talked about playing golf, you actually meant playing at golf. There is an enormous difference.

I can assure you that my ability in the other sports carried over to golf when I picked up the game.

Proud of you. You should obviously know the differences between a game of skill and a sport. Baseball actually teeters between both. There are lots of great athletes in baseball but there are a lot of not-so-athletic pitchers who are just athletic enough to throw 20 or 30 pitches every few days. Skill and athleticism are not the same.

Who claimed they were? I know plenty of great athletes who have an absolute horrid golf swing....

tell me about Peyton Manning's athleticism. How about Brady? Jim Plunkett? Drew Bledsoe?

Let me know when shooting 68 from the tips actually has anything to do with athletics. Unless I decided to spring from hole to hole it's not a sport. It's so athletic that you have to drive a cart around the course! That's rich!
