‘23 NC WR Nathan Leacock (Tennessee)

Guess he sucks then. 😔

Don’t be like that. You know the point I’m making. We’d all rather land a kid that all the top schools are after.

When an OLineman has an offer from Arkansas, it’s often said “Pittman knows OLineman!” When a DLineman has an offer from Pitt, a lot say “Narduzzi knows dlineman.” Alabama and OSU and Clemson have been putting receivers in thr league like crazy. Just because a kid doesn’t have an offer from them doesn’t mean they won’t be good, but seeing that school offer does serve as validation.

I personally have full faith in confidence in whatever receivers we land. I think CJH is a kingmaker there.

In touch with your inner R Kelly?

Recruiting based on likes/post ratio?

Personally, if we had a staff that could spot all the underrated 5 star talent out there and recruit the hell out of them, I'd prefer that. Seriously. Imagine how much easier recruiting would be if you were recruiting 5 star talent without having to compete as hard for it. Especially in NIL world now. Imagine how much farther you could make your $$$s go.

Evans looked a 2nd rd running back when he was healthy.
I'm going to say no, but thoae guys have a different attitude than Evans. A better attitude.

Evans left because he felt Heupel was running him ragged while he was hurt.
There's truth to that, but it was one game during one series, and he got bent out of shape.

So they can duplicate or replace his numbers i think. I'm more worried about our passing game and keeping HH healthy.

Running him ragged as he sat out almost every game. Dude was made of glass.

Acting like nobody is going to try to flip a 5 star committed that suddenly gets attention from every major school in the country AFTER he commits lol

I think you misunderstood my post. Perhaps I didn't phrase well...

"Underrated 5 star talent" Note that I said talent, not rating.

A player with the talent of a 5 star that's underrated by the services because he's not well known. i.e. a 3 star that's just as talented as some of the 5 stars out there.

The point being, I'd just as soon have a staff that can find the hidden talent as the ones that jump in on the ones everyone else sees.

If he's a 5 star talent, then he's still going to have interest from all the top schools lol

I would say 99 percent of the time this is true. Kinda weird that no big schools came after Seldon though outside of Penn state. Doesn’t mean he’s not a five star talent just because he doesn’t have a Ga or Bama offer.

I get what you're saying. There are kids out there every year with 5* measurables that get missed by the services for whatever reason. It could be a kid that focused on basketball until their junior year. It could be that their from a really small town that doesn't traditionally produce college level talent. It could be because they don't camp or run track. It could be because of the offense of defense that their high school coach runs. It could be because they are playing completely out of position in high school out of necessity. There's still lots of reasons very talented kids get missed by recruiting services and college coaches.

This. Thank you.

What seemed to be missed was the point that I was contrasting against, which was the idea that we should be using other staff's and the recruiting services to scout our kids for us.

The point I'm making is that I'd rather have a staff that excels at finding talent (most especially that fits their scheme), and to hell with seeking validation. Going head to head in recruiting for the sake of merely going head to head is foolish. It's a waste of resources and professional malpractice for a coaching staff.

No way it's as high as a 99% hit rate on 5 star talent being rated 5 stars. Hell, they artificially suppress the # of 5 stars, even for the talents they rate.

Not in all cases but yeah generally. Harrison Bailey was a five star by some services. I know not a WR there but still.

Edit: my bad I see this has already been addressed.

*Not a 5 star talent by anyone in the entire industry except ONE person that championed him singlehandedly...

None...other....than....Spoons Farrell 😂😌😭

*not much to do with the current conversation, just wanted to take a shot at that pedo*

It’s almost as if you think our staff should earn their pay by being better at evaluating talent for their systems that the internet dweebs. How dare you.
