Nebraska, Missouri face ultimatum from Big XII.

all the while the folks in Austin think are certain the world is awaiting their move first to begin the chain reaction. lulz.

Well if UConn, Rutgers, Neb and Mizz join the Big ten. The big 12 disolves and joins the Pac 10 and then the SEC raids the ACC which causes the ACC to rip apart the rest of the Big East causing it to collapse would in turn force ND to fully accept the Big 10 offer.
Actually, ND calls a meeting of the major private universities and decide to form their own conference. Schools like Stanford, Vandy and Rutgers go along for the ride.

^ I think the way you worded that last bit is a touch misleading... I kind of doubt sports at most schools besides football and men's basketball even turn a profit. Point still stands, though. Of course Tennessee makes more money than WVU. Tennessee turns more revenue on sports than all but about a dozen schools nation-wide.

robvols, I'm going to assume that was a drunken rant. I have no idea what your point is.

How is it misleading?

We are not talking about profit here. We are talking about revenue. I was just pointing out the disparity between a big SEC school and a big BE school. The fact that Tennessee turned as much revenue 7 years ago in Football aone as WVU's whole athletic program last year is pretty telling of the said disparity.

Nebraska, Mizzou, ND, Uconn, and Rutgers to the Big 10.

Even without ND that would be a nice revenue bump for the conference.

If NE is for sure switching is there much doubt MO will be following? And if CO is also bolting, dooming the Big 12, were does that leave Kansas?

I just do not get why TX or OK would leave the Big 12, they own it, they have been in like 4 or the last 7 national title games. I guess if more money was offered but they will have an easy road in the SEC or a mega Pac-10(16). Who is to say that if the Big 12 loses 2 teams they wont just replace them and that will be that, while reworking the structure of cash flow in the conf.

But cant that be reworked sometime? I mean even if they leave the Big12 then it will take a year or so to work it all out, in that same time could they not rework TV and $ sharing deals?

Possible but who are you going to replace Colorado, Nebraska and Missouri with that even keep you almost as strong of a conference?

While TCU, Houston, and Utah or some teams like that may be decent at football now, they are not major college football players historically and make the conference much weaker.

True, I think we will know one way or the other this week or at the very latest this summer everything will go into meltdown mode.

An SEC guy telling me I have a crappy commissioner? WTH? Anyhow, I dont think the powers that be at each University, can agree when it comes to tv contract negotiations, or revenue sharing. That being said, those willing to leave can be replaced and the status as an elite conference can be maintained.

Of course, it would require the Big12 to get the "right" schools. U of H brings nothing. Utah is Utah. TCU would be good though.

The other issue that has been discussed today is, what's the commitment to Okie Lite and Ou? What major market are they in that other teams in the Big 12 would not be in unless they played them. The answer; there is none. The Pac10 is being kind by extending them an invitation, just to keep the Red River Shoot Out in tact. Other than that, when you look closely into it, Oklahoma schools dont bring all that much.

Hell, most of their players come from Texas anyways.

And Baylor is hoping like hell that the PAC10 looks past Big Game Bob's accomplishments and goes with that line of thinking. I dont think they will though.

I don't know if you can call Slive that bad. The SEC is a pretty big player so it's not like he's stood in the way of anything.

Talking to some workmates in Lincoln sounds like they will be wearing Big Ten shirts Friday.

If people think the Texas legislature is throwing fits over Baylor leaving, see what happens if uta and a&m part ways.
