How well we do really hinges on our quarterback play. We've see. Worley man the ship and he hasn't impressed me that much. Perhaps with some CBJ coachin up and a few years of maturation he will be ready to take the helm this year. We'll see in spring if they'll be a 8-9 win team or a 4-6 win team. Until then it's not even poor speculation going on around here.

So Tennessee is not your team? Tennessee is my team and If the VOLs are not your team, then get off the board and don't post any more. Tennessee was MY team long before I attended there in 1956 and will always be my team. If you don't like it, you will have to live with it or go somewhere else.

Of course I'm a Vols fan, I'm not trolling. I simply gave my 2 cents on the "we" statements. Don't get so worked up over it. I'm a vols fan through and through, but I guess I'll just be a fan in my own way if it bothers you so much. You guys can say "we" all you want if that makes you feel better.

I don't think QB play matters as much as defense. It was so bad last year that it couldn't overcome the best QB play we've had in 5 years.

You'll probably get a few more responses that aren't gonna see your explanation.

Us'uns understand.

When I say "we", (and I think most would agree) I am talking about everyone in Volnation who bleeds orange, and has supported the team for part of, or the entire, 40 years I have. If you feel that strongly about it, I can say "We'" (with the exception of jeffmcflurry27) moving forward?

I think if you asked our new Coach, he's happy to have us. Previous coach, not so much. And, if you've ever paid taxes while living in Tennessee, they are your team too by definition when you get right down to it.

I thought everybody's blood was red?? :)

Exactly. For the most part, the same defensive personnel are returning. Until I see different from them, I have to assume they will be marginally better than last year at best. So if we don't have a good quarterback we're seriously in trouble. If we have a good quarterback and the defense even moderately improves I can see 7 wins next year.

And I never understood why people make a big deal over little things like this.

One because they may just not get the fact that people pour their hearts and souls in something no matter what it is attached to, "WE" because they believe they are vested in it.

Now for others that attended UT, Donate to UT, pay for tickets from scalpers are also just as vested, and the term "WE" pops it's head up numerous times. So to the poster, that just doesn't get it, "It doesn't have to do if you are are on the field playing", It has to do with loving something as much as we do OUR Tennessee Vol's, regardless of status with the program.

I really hate this whole "We are ______ " movement.

If you have grown up a Vol fan (like I have) and live in the greater Knoxville area, then you feel like that you are a part of the Tennessee Volunteers for life. We have the right to say "WE ARE TENNESSEE". If you don't like it, then don't get on VN. It's that simple...:peace2:

Nice Care Bear thread with hugs, magic dust and positive yoga vibes. This team is in trouble and it will show next year due to one if the toughest schedules in the nation. Going to be a rough ride next season. If Butch is any good he'll win one over someone we shouldn't. I'm wait and see. Too many seasons being down to say otherwise, IMO.

I really hate how many people say "we" in every post. As if they are the ones playing on the field.

Dedicated fans put their heart and soul into their team. We do feel we are part of the team. Maybe we do not run, block, catch, or kick, but we are all in for every player wearing Orange.

Guess selfish people do not understand that, but those of us who use "we" are sending the message to our team and other fans that we are all in!

Sorry you cannot enjoy that feeling, or appreciate it.

Everybody on Volnation just needs to keep in mind that the offensive numbers of last year were a direct result of our OL. Guess what. We have the same OL back in orange again for the 2013 season. The offense is going to be just fine without the so called big 3 of Bray, Hunter, and Patterson.

Go Big Orange!

Explain this...

Are you suggesting that the offensive line somehow throws and catches the ball? Because I'm pretty sure they outlawed that in college football.

Or are you suggesting that a good enough offensive line makes the quality of the receivers and quaterback irrelevant?

I think what I wrote is obvious to Vol fans that if a team has a good OL, that enables the other players to execute the plays and move the ball down the field. If UT didn't have the OL returning this upcoming season, that would be more problematic for the new qb, wr, etc. Since the OL is returning, that should prove very valuable to the new starters on offense.

No, you said the offensive numbers were "a direct result of the OL". Now you're suggesting that the numbers were achieved, in part, thanks to a good OL.

Which is it? Direct or in part?

Bamawriter please notice that I said this is obvious to Vol fans. I'm beginning to believe that since you are not a Vol fan, you may never understand.

It's pretty much the same O-line as 2011. So why did UT put up decent numbers with Bray, but it looked like someone slapped a helmet on a monkey every time Simms went in?

I detect an exageration. Our OL has improved each year since they were freshmen, though. In any event, our new qb will be afforded the luxury of an outstanding OL which will in turn make his job easier than if he had a lesser OL or more inexperienced one.
