How well we do really hinges on our quarterback play. We've see. Worley man the ship and he hasn't impressed me that much. Perhaps with some CBJ coachin up and a few years of maturation he will be ready to take the helm this year. We'll see in spring if they'll be a 8-9 win team or a 4-6 win team. Until then it's not even poor speculation going on around here.

My guess is that Worley will lose his starting job, before the mid point of the season. After that, he is likely to transfer.

B.J. Coleman, Nick Stevens, Brandon Stewart.

Everyone just calm down. It will take time for CBJ and Co. to get the ship righted. I think it's great that we are going toe to toe with Alibubba on several 4 & 5* recruits this year.
They will probably land some big fish. We need to look at 2014. that's when the relationships the new coaching staff has with the players will pay dividends. To be fair to CBJ, there just wasn't/isn't enough time to create the relationships with some of the top recruits. Remeber all the turmoil Alibubba went through a few years ago? Saban's first year he went 7-6. We all want instant results, but It takes time!!! :peace2:

I detect an exageration. Our OL has improved each year since they were freshmen, though. In any event, our new qb will be afforded the luxury of an outstanding OL which will in turn make his job easier than if he had a lesser OL or more inexperienced one.

So, rather than "direct result", you meant that a good offensive line is helpful to any team's offense. Thanks, Coach Lombardi.

Why is virtually everyone saying we will be lucky to win 6? We are TENNESSEE! We BARELY lost to Florida,UGa,and SoCar! If not for Dools incompetence,we could`ve won 11 games! We don`t suck THAT bad. Don`t yall realize football is an emotional sport? When we got Doolied in the Fla game, most of the kids got depressed and stopped giving 110%. After the Uga debacle, they ALL did. Our team realized they had zero chance at anything besides the Nashville Bowl and juust didn`t have anything to play for. Now,we did lose our offensive PASSING firepower, but WE RETURN THE ENTIRE RUSHING OFFENSE virtually. WE RETURN NEARLY THE ENTIRE D! Our weak spots are QB and WR. We have a load of talent at those positions. We may find that they turn into strengths. YOU NEVER KNOW TILL THE GAMES ARE PLAYED! Why EVERYONE wants to say they`ll be happy with 6 ws is beyond me! We will contend for the SEC EAST! GO VOLS!

I always support the coaches and team and always will, but we have new coaches and a new system to learn, we also have a new quarterback, new receivers, and average running backs. As you said most of our defense returns, but they ranked last in the SEC and will not be great next year. I hope that I am wrong, but it looks like 6 wins would be a huge improvement this year with the schedule we have!

No one is happy with 6. We are realistic in saying its gonna be a fight toget to 6. What is your win loss expectation? Cause clearly the "We are Tennessee" hasn't won on forever.

If you have grown up a Vol fan (like I have) and live in the greater Knoxville area, then you feel like that you are a part of the Tennessee Volunteers for life. We have the right to say "WE ARE TENNESSEE". If you don't like it, then don't get on VN. It's that simple...:peace2:

Thanks Marshal

I really hate this whole "We are ______ " movement.

couldn't agree with you more. Just because we are UT doesn't make us contenders. This isn't the 90's when we had great players. Our players are average, at best, and half of our starters wouldn't make bama, lsu, fla rosterss. We are not a very good football team. That is why ppl are saying 6 wins will be tough next year. If we win 6 games, butch should win coach of the year

Wow. Clueless. We lost our offensive stars, have a defense that sucked the worst in in vol history, are 10th ranked in the sec in recruiting this year, and you're thinking were going to be better? Lmao

Ok, Ok. Ok.....

I've been thinking this for a while so I'll post to see if anyone else thought it.

Dooley knew he would probably get the ax shortly after arriving at UT (i.e. <= 3 yrs). He knew this was a high risk job, the fans were impatient, the SEC was getting tougher, the football program was a dumpster fire, few seniors, tough recruiting state, etc. etc. If you reflect back to his attitude (blaming the players, "we're just not a very good football team...", etc.) he showed his cards in his FIRST year of coaching.

Being an trained lawyer (and probably pretty smart), he negotiated for a huge buyout (and salary) based on his very mediocre coaching record. He did want many, many CEOs do in publicly traded companies. They LEVERAGE their perceived competence against a strong organizational need for a handsome compensation package and for him......it was a "win-win". If he does turn the program around, he gets an extension, makes more $ and further positions himself for the UGA job. If he doesn't turn it around, he gets a buyout and is independently wealthy for life.

It played out exactly how Dooley probably thought it would in his conversations with his wife. I'm not dumping on Dooley b/c I truly wanted him to succeed.

Shoudn't you be out buying players or something....... I would hate to intrude on your schedule of trying to educate us on the mouth breathing ways of the university that resides to the South of us, to just come to this thread to insult this guy.

Our team has enough tallent to win. What they have been lacking is believing they can win. I believe we now have the coaching staff that can teach and motivate this team to be winners.

Solid post! Go Vols!

When you wrote this sentence, did it actually make sense in your head? I'm having trouble imagining that it did.

So the entire population of Jamestown wears orange all day, every day?

U are truly just a smartazz. It is methaphorical, bammerboy. As in not wearing Big Orange means you don`t support UT 100%. And yeah, most people do wear Orange. We are Tennessee. And I would bet anything, such as $ or tickets)that my unedumecated azz has a higher I.Q. than you and would love to prove it if you can pay for it. I`m disabled. Go Vols!
