New Arizona Immigration Law

and that's what the law says they have to do

please tell me how do they identify someone "suspected to be latino" in your opinion?
you're the one saying it's not always as cut and dry to determine somebody's race. that's why i put suspected

because bills always go as written....

a LEGAL hispanic will have to have documentation on their persons at all times now to prove their legality. Someobdy else who's legal of another race won't have to go through that, and you know it. and that's where the potential problem arises.

Refusing to pass laws because they are not always enforced correctly would leave us in anarchy. Should we get rid of laws against murder because it sometimes results in convictions of innocent people? Certainly, you recognize that such departures from the ways laws are written are outliers in most cases, correct?

anyone notice that Cash doesn't trust the cops but is in favor of government involvement in most areas of our lives?

One who is smart enough to see that the handwriting is on the wall for 19th-century-style nativism.

Outstanding, another angry poster who posts outlandish generalizations!!

that's a good point...

anyways, another fun/pointless discussion from all parties. the courts in the end will decide on this one

I sure have. They are benevolent when they are regulating businesses. But when they interact with the public, they are subject to the same self-interest incentives and biases as the private sector.

different situation.... government, i have a vote.... cops, my vote is very much indirectly involved... we have the same cops regardless of what party is in charge.

you don't have a vote for SCOTUS, Attorney General, FBI chief, and so on.

In your insane gov't run world, police should be hired and fired based on which political party is in charge?

and therefore what? cops are going to pull over more hispanics than before because of this new law?
potentially yes, because, loopholes in the law would be on their side. i.e. broken tailight, now i have a right to see if this hispanic-looking person is a legal citizen/immigrant.... won't be the same for people of other races.
