Nico leaving?? [NOPE]

Actually, Nico is a sophomore academically and Peyton threw 33 TDs his true 2nd year and was 5th in Heisman. Nico is on his 2nd year has played in 18 games; I think he has a high ceiling
but in Boths 2nd year Peyton was twice the QB Nico is. Its Nicos 2nd year and if he's as good as we hope he will be gone to NFL after next year.
They just started the letting trues play 4 & bowl recently and keep their RS so trying to compare is not =
Don't entirely disagree but Peyton had a much better surrounding cast as well.

Peyton knew the game like the back of his hand of course his father is Archie and grew up around players, I still question Nicos Football IQ, some ppl have it some don't, it's not a reflection on your intelligence just more on your savvy.

A better supporting cast around Nico and no telling what his Numbers would be.
Apples to Oranges, Nil $$$$$, Transfer Portal, sitting a year.
NCAA Football has changed so there is not a comparison.
When you are buying players you have to change everything.
Kids think they are great and they are but if they don't have the supporting cast they are just average joes.
We saw that against OSU. Nico still playing hard. So this maybe more of a recruiting, NIL, portal problem and coaching problem than just players looking for greener pastures.
Coaches may have told some to move on and we just don't know.
The vision moves on and this is not just the players.

Playing experienced isn’t measure by academic year.

If this is some tactic to get a pay raise let him walk

He's reportedly being very well compensated to play here and frankly hasn't delivered yet, much less delivered to the point where he could throw weight around for more money.

You honestly think there are 3 receivers that played the majority of snaps this year that will be drafted? Who?
On the Oline? Mays?…. And who?
Throw out a couple of freshman QBs too …. If you don’t mind. I think it will make for good discussion

Bru McCoy and Thornton will be drafted. Brazzell will be drafted next year.
Mays and Spraggins will be drafted this year.
Heard will be in the next couple of years.
Luck, Manziel, Winston all redshirt freshman
Hurts, Caleb Williams, and Lawrence as true freshman.
Sam Bradford, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, RG3, Colt McCoy, Kellen Moore, Phillip Rivers,……..I can keep going for a while.

Well, Duke supposedly just paid $4M/yr for Tulane's QB and they're a basketball school. I've no idea if the guy is THAT good but maybe the market price of QBs is rising.

I think it's just a BS rumor but the situation with the Duke QB has to make other college QBs revisit their value in the market.

Need AP or Callahan to send out something to prevent this from blowing out of proportions even more than they already have. Please someone who has VQ, keep us updated…

Tee’s ‘98 stats
153 completions 267 attempts 57.3 completion % 2,164 yds 19 tds 6 ints

Nico’s ‘24
213 completions 334 attempts 2,616 yds 63.8 completion % 19 td 5 int

Which is better? It’s marginal …. But there’s no debating which had the better supporting cast.
Tee Martin Sat for 2 years behind one of the NFLs greatest. What's more some are comparing a Jr to a RS Freshman one had a team of veterans and even Peyton had his moments. Never beat FL, Alabama down years, and he struggle greatly against Vanderbilt. Fr - Sr years.
I always consider Tony Robinson as another measuring stick. Added first year Defensive Coordinator Ken Donahue's first year changed a terrible porus defense into a winning group.

measured by age they had both been on a college football practice for 2 years Peyton won starting job by 6th game his True Freshman year. Both practiced every day for 2 years, but Nico had more practice had the 2022 Spring, Peyton didn't join the team at Bowl practice Nico did he had a little more college practice experience time than Peyton when all was said and done. Counting his skipping senior spring HS to enroll early

My bet would be if Heupel is even aware of it on social media, he knows what is up with it: BS, agent attempt to get more money, or legit desire to leave.

I always assume I know about 0.0001% of what the coaches know about a "crisis."

Today's players are masters in the art of being a drama queen
Imagine being a head coach and trying to deal with this mess. It's easy to see why Saban and other coaches are getting out of it. Players today not having any loyalty to the school the play for, no commitment to the coach or other teammates . Just sad

Peyton threw way too many interceptions.

Take a look at the QBs above Nico….any freshmen? Sophomores?
View attachment 709849
Milroe is a bad QB so that shows how terrible QB play was in the conference more than anything. Beck was an interception machine. Lagway would likely be higher but was inserted late. Sellers caught another gear late in the season. I know zero about green and Thorne was very bad. Nuss was probably the best pure passer but their garbage defense put them in bad situations

It's a much different game now than it was in 1998. You can't even really compare the two. 57% would be a godawful completion percentage now, but it wasn't then.

Again, it was a totally different game back then. You can't compare QB stats from 30 years ago to now. The way quarterbacks are coached and the way the passing game is called has evolved immensely. If Peyton came along now, his stats would look different.

D = Heupel not being the coach we thought he was. Having an abysmal OL and WR room in year 4 and potentially having an even worse one on year 5 lands solely on the HC’s inept roster management and play development. How many teams in the transfer portal era have gone 7-5, 10-2, 8-4, and 10-2 and gone into year 5 with almost 0 production returning offensively? A walkon RB and former walkon TE are our top 2 returning skill players this year and there’s a very good chance our best offensive weapon next year is currently a defensive back
So terrible that he made the 12-team playoff.

Comparing Nico to the greatest ever is not fair to Nico. Can't compat 1994-1998 to now. Different game, different type of players, different coaching.

Would be like comparing anyone to Pat Summit, not fair.

It’s because people keep throwing out the disingenuous “freshman” tag.
