Nightmare Scenario

Maybe you just need more sleep. Try doing some research before you post. Google is your friend. We are in the playoff. Technically we were the first team in and hopefully the last one out.

If it was just having a bad loss then UT, and several other teams would have no shot. It's that fact that Miami had a bad loss today. If they had a good loss then would that make a difference? BTW, Syracuse is not that bad. They are 9-3.
9-3 with the 85th ranked SOS, going in to today. Maybe top 50 after playing a terribly overrated Miami.

Look, the more we talk about this, the less I think you know what you’re saying. Miami’s conference discontinued football and they have not competed for anything on the national stage since.

Jimmy Johnson isn’t coming back. Kevin Shapiro’s Ponzi Scheme is no longer available as a booster. Talking up Miami is like bringing up last night’s showing on TV Land to the break room at work. They’re probably going to ask why haven’t you retired yet.

Cool story. Miami is still considered a national level brand and has been in the top 10 basically the entire season. You can tell me how bad they’ve been, but no one cares.

A&M wins the SEC
Miami doesn’t fall below us after their loss
Texas stays ahead of us despite their loss
Oh State wins the Big 10

1. Oh St
2. Texas A&M
3. SMU
4. Boise
5. Az State
6. Penn State
7. Indiana
8. Miami
9. Georgia
10. Texas
11. Notre Dame
12. Oregon

I’m not saying that will be the order (haven’t taken the time to think about the exact order), only saying there’s a chance we could be left out if those things happen
I’ll have what you’re smoking please.

We can find this out on Tuesday evening who cares. The CFP committee has to weigh in.

But you’re living in yesteryear. Nobody born after 1980 gives a flip about Miami.

Man. I thought I was a pessimist.

Dude, I cannot find any scenario that we are now left out.

Miami will be out now
Ohio St. should fall below us as well.
If aTm beats TX, TX will fall below us as well.

I expect SMU to win ACC. Clemson could win it and go in above us, but then they would likely be only ACC team in. I expect only one ACC team in above us.

B1G is Penn St vs Oregon—both above us. IU is below us and will stay below us.

UGA in a situation where they need to win SECCG or they could be outside with 3 losses or at least below us

ND is above us

I think the most likely we would see something like the following:

Ohio State/Tennessee
Indiana/Notre Dame
Penn State / Big 12 Winner
Texas / SMU
Let me say (and I know I am in the minority) but not a fan of the 12 team playoffs. But I can definitely get behind a first week that looks like this. I still don't think Georgia is going to have an easy job 2nd time around against Texas

Could happen but they would have to move Indiana, SMU, and Arizona St above us. A&M theoretically could bump us back one spot. Indiana just isn’t going above us imo. No conceivable metric that Miami stays above us either imo.

🤦‍♂️

As others have insisted, try Google. “TV ratings by FBS team” or “top FBS matchups of the year”. You’ll find one of the top 25 watched games this year had Miami and the only reason it broke 5 million views was because Florida was the big draw of that game.

I wanna host Indiana too, we will run them out of Neyland.

Easy there. I was at the gator bowl and had it not been for my dad would have walked out and missed an incredible comeback against Indiana. We don't run people out of the stadium.

Sure, they haven’t played in a lot of big games.

That doesn't make any sense.

Texas staying above us would be a crime considering they would have lost to the only two teams they played that had a pulse.

None of that happened

I didn’t realize Penn State was going. But either way that doesn’t change much.

The only thing that doesn’t make sense is for Indiana to jump us. Anything else listed there could happen
How does Oregon finish 12th? Miami won't be ahead of Tennessee. That is an absolutely ridiculous list.

.... and Texas A&M is not going to beat Texas.

No way Miami stays ahead of us,
Ohio St can’t win big 10 because they are out.

What do you think makes a brand big?

Historical perception is a big part of it. And you’ll find plenty of people who consider Miami to be a better brand that UT right now. I think the two programs are very comparable in that area.

Did you see the part in the OP where I clearly stated I wasn’t attempting to list them in order?

Yeah, didn’t realize it was Penn State. Either way my point is anyone other than Oregon winning means another team in for them.

But the part I was most wrong about is it’s highly unlikely Indiana jumps us
