Now the woke left reaches a new milestone of arrogance

Critical thinking? Pray tell, what exactly have you contributed save thinly veiled accusations of racism and unsubstantiated claims of greatness for obscure musicians whom no one has ever heard of? What exactly is your thesis you wish to make and defend? Mine is easily expressed; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements. I have seen absolutely no counter argument from you as to what is better and (most importantly) why?

Literally no one has said the 9th isn't anything short of a historic achievement. You're arguing with ghosts.

Fela Kuti... the founder of the Afro-beat genre... obscure musician that o one has ever heard of... lmao.

They aren't thinly veiled. I'm firm in my belief that you're outrage is ethnocentrically based. Your post to darken the skin of the Mona Lisa says more than enough.

Okay, how about we lighten the Mona Lisa to better include Scandinavians? Happy now? 😂

Tee. Hee.

Sidestepping again 🤷‍♂️
Not at all. Just saying (a point YOU keep sidestepping) that truly great art is great enough to be inclusive AS IS, no modification of any sort required. Perhaps you should examine the potentially racist attitude that seems to say that Africans are so culturally illiterate that they are incapable of understanding great art unless we throw in some drums or rap lyrics. There is no more sad form of racism than that of low expectations. I happen to respect African Americans enough to believe that they can appreciate any art form without the great white liberal savior stepping in to patronizingly “help them” understand that difficult and obtuse Beethoven. Africans can manage just fine without the intervention of the VERY WHITE music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

So did In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus), so let's temper the expectation #1 in the US and Canada equals a sonic achievement.

In no way, shape or form am I suggesting such a correlation. (even added "no kidding" to my factoid to kind of highlight that point) And FTR my most hated #1 was that whiney ass Gilbert O'Sullivan Alone Again song.

Nope, but the Chattanooga area and am in my 50s. North gate was the place to be. Back then it had a fountain in the center. A Murphy’s store, only 2 theaters, an Orange Julius, Record Bar, and Spencer Gifts. Teenage Heaven

Northgate used to be great, it hadn't died like Eastgate mall, but hixson has become it's own city.

''I'm not racist. You're racist."

Anyone ever tell you that you're absurdly long-winded?

Clearly, African culture. It's got your knickers in a bunch.

Your question is subjective and not worth answering. If I told you I believed Fela Kuti was every bit the genius Beethoven is, you would discard it.
I listened to Water No Get Enemy and it's musically good, similar in parts to good big band / swing music, but in my view not at the very top tier of composition. Are other of his songs better?

I was using Kuti as more of an example. The poster I'm responding to has no interest in discussion.

That aside, Zombie and Shakara are fantastic.

I can already see the Vox and Vice headlines now if a white guy were to take a pan-african song and "white it up" a bit with some clapping on the 1 and 3 beats and adding a harmonica and banjo.
You guys should check out “The Cleverly’s” version of “Diggety”. It’s fabulous!!

Danke. I'll give them a listen.
As a side note, you ever listen to Ali Farka Toure? It's a different African sound. Maybe we need a world music thread in Movies and Music.

Hollywood is a perfect example of this. Every movie and TV show these days is a rehash of one that was done 50-60 years ago. These people have zero imagination. They take a popular movie or TV show and add a "non-binary" or "Person of Color" and voilà, they think they are geniuses.
Same thing with a lot of music from the 70s. I heard a song yesterday at the gym and I thought it was Fleetwood Mac.... nope. Somebody with a digital recorder and that had copied part of the Stevie Nicks vocals and added some autotune crap and a drum machine. There is so little real talent these days
