This guy addresses it:
The "half of Americans pay no income tax" fraud | Jay Bookman | ajc.com
So I guess all the teachers, policeman, and firefighters that are "aren't paying their way" don't deserve equal say as the guy who inherited a trust fund?
gotta disagree with ya one this one...the money has already been taxed once
most of these people listed are paying quite a bit in taxes and most people with trust funds tax rates are quite low.
so? what has that person done to deserve that kind of money? we have to tax someone. personally i'd rather have the person taxed who doesn't do anything rather than the one who is working his arse off and getting taxed 40% of his income.
The article fails massively in that it doesn't account for what that unit receives back upon filing taxes, based upon a particular AGI.This guy addresses it:

So I guess all the teachers, policeman, and firefighters that are "aren't paying their way" don't deserve equal say as the guy who inherited a trust fund? It isn't all about money, some of these people that are part of this 2.99% group contribute way more than some of the other elite who are so mistreated. I mean, somebody needs to pick up your trash and deliver your mail, no?
But was has the person who inherited the money actually done to earn it? The money may have been taxed once already, but the lucky individual who gets it hasn't.
