I think the message that the UK just sent has the elite a little scared that the US could do the same thing.
Maybe, just maybe, the ruling elite will turn loose of some money and start to realize that they have taken too much.
Amazing when you think about it. The same people are going to wake up to do the same jobs. Factories didn't shut down overnight, oil didn't stop flowing, and so on. So you can't say the markets really reflect what's going on as much as the markets cause what might happen next because of their destructive influence in currencies and investment expectations.
I've always felt that market "response" had much much less to do with projected financial well being of companies and commodities and far more to do with very large investors to make enormous profit to the detriment of others by using events as leverage - basically by creating fear.
So the question is why should the pound take a pounding? The world is going to stop buying N Sea oil? Airlines and militaries around the world are going to refuse replacement Rolls Royce engines? Will a decrease in Jaguar sales by snubbed EU partners rock the world? On the other hand Britain will no longer have to participate in propping up Greece or support another layer of bureaucrats. Oh, yeah, Britain can set some rules on immigration independent of the EU - and there is that moat separating them from the insanity flowing into France, Belgium, Germany, ...
It looks far more like the real scam is floating currencies and treating them like commodities and that markets are places that normal people "invest" so that the ultra wealthy can pump it out - never allowing a good crisis go to waste.
Washington, in an effort to save its power over Europe, launched a campaign, willingly joined by presstitutes and the brainwashed left-wing, who flocked to the One Percents banner, that presented the effort to preserve British liberty and sovereignty as racism. This dishonest campaign shows beyond all doubt that Washington and its media whores have no regard whatsoever for liberty and the sovereignty of peoples.
The British people, or a majority of them, gave Washington the bird. But the fight is not over. Perhaps it hasnt really yet begun. Here is what the British can likely expect: The Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, Bank of Japan, and George Soros will conspire to attack the British pound, driving it down and terrorizing the British economy. We will see who is the strongest: the will of the British people or the will of the CIA, the One Percent, and the EU and neocon nazis.
This may halt the US government from raising federal interest rates.

I know not many of you read articles from global research, but I thought this one interesting and ironic..
The Brexit Vote. What Does it Mean? Hopefully, a Breakup of the EU and NATO, the Avoidance of World War III | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization
WARSAWPolands ruling party leader on Friday called for a new European Union treaty that would reduce the power of the Brussels bureaucracy if the EU wanted to avoid more member states leaving the bloc.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski also said a Carolingian Union--closer cooperation between the six founding members in reaction to the U.K.s decision to exit the EUwould lead to conflict in Europe.

There's talk of this being very likely.
There's a wave in the uneducated working classes, worldwide, of belief that nationalism is the answer to their problems. This is eerily similar to Nazi Germany, finding someone to blame for stagnation of wages and advancement.
Trump supporters are very susceptible to this same manipulation.
I heard someone say tonight that when the " poor uneducated working class" votes like the liberals want...they call them the salt of the earth and the glue that holds it all together.
When they don't....They are racist uneducated idiots.
Exhibit 1 from the bigot above.
The Brexit is a microcosm of everything wrong with Western democracy [sic].
First, there was no burning desire for a referendum. About 6 million strongly wanted it to begin with. Less than 10% - I won't call it an insignificant minority but no real momentum at all.
This was all about a power play with the Tory party where the Brit equivalent of Donald Trump has come out the victor. It's faux-democracy at its finest.
Those who voted to Leave were found Googling "What is the EU?" Cornwall voted strongly to Leave and then immediately begged to keep their £60M investment grant from Europe. What actually happened was a vote against the status quo from people who have long been disenfranchised with the political system and rightly so. Once again - INEQUALITY is the only politics that matter in the world right now (well, really since the Agricultural Revolution).
Which brings us to the Left [sic] and Europe itself. Despite a broad coalition of the young, what people call the Left, and half the Tory government no one was able to communicate successfully to the disenfranchised a message of why the EU was important. Which is because the EU is, in the main, an unequal alliance whose only real mission is to privilege German and French bankers and investor classes. Who, by the way, had short-term windfalls betting on the predictable decline in a fiat currency (a practice that would be illegal in any sensible and fair and merit-based government in the world).
Western democracy [sic] is broken (see Trump, Clinton for more details). Inequality is the only politics worth talking about in the world. The Brexit started as an internal power struggle amongst a party that, really, represents no more than 10% of Britain. Nobody actually has any idea what will happen.
The most likely outcome is at least a partial privatization of the NHS - which will be a disaster for Britain. History will trace back to the Brexit and the upcoming Trump victory as the final discrediting of the 1% parties in Western democracies which have ruled since the mid-1970s - much like Russian tanks rolling through Prague discredited the Left to this day.
And then Britain, as it was the center of the Industrial Revolution, will find itself the center of the New Left. Brexit / Trump victory / 50 years of neoliberalism will revitalise and reinvigorate Leftist movements everywhere. The yoke of Stalinism will be gone and forgotten, and the new Left with new ideas will rise. Although the Latin American Leftist movements will actually be the movers and shakers, Britain will find itself once again at the center of a Western revolution.
Of course, it will be too late as we will be beyond 450ppm CO2 - well beyond the point of no return for human timescales - and the world will be doomed to be much poorer, much more crowded, much more brutish, nasty, and short.
