Official Dave Hart is Officially Woefully Inept Thread

I'll wait till the dust finally settles before sharpening my pitchfork.

We never know what is really going on behind closed doors even as bad as it appears right now.

Wrong. It was a PR nightmare when Jon Grudent's agent said that the idea of Gruden coaching at Tennessee was a fantasy world.

There literally are not words for the abortion that is Dave Hart's public relations and communications ability.

Figured I'd get it started. This guy is clearly a clown that can't sell a prestigious job at a an all time 10 program. First Hart, then Cheek.

Wow all this talk about our prestigious school and yet nobody seems to want to coach here. Maybe we should realize not everybody views. UT as we do

Charlie Strong is the absolute worst possible fit for Tennessee. The fact that he targeted him, shows that he has no understanding whatsoever of football, or of the University of Tennessee. Arkansas (who hit it out of the park), Auburn (who found someone who fits into their culture), and Kentucky (a good risk hire for them) have all hired coaches who are superior to Strong..and Hart is unable to even lure Strong away from Louisville ( thank the lord for that ).

With all the practice we've had with coaching hires, you'd think we'd be better at it by now :)

Why? Haven't you heard? He is the greatest smokescreen artist in the world. He is greater than the CIA and the FBI. He can offer other coaches jobs and know they will not accept them. He has Gruden sitting in his lap right now and is just trying to help all the other coaches get a raise. He is a saint.

Your opinion does not make this job prestigious. This makes the 3rd coaching search that has shown just how prestigious this job is. Who knows exactly why? Maybe because our successful coaches get canned & they see it as a no win situation. Who knows.

He deserves to be fired for this search. This is absolutely embarassing. He is a loser and has put us right back where we were in 2009.

Email, letter, petition, anything.

Just to let him know we support him finding employment elsewhere.

I'm just wondering how all of you guys know exactly who we are going to end up with.

Yes, from a PR standpoint, this has been all over the map (ugly). However, we still haven't seen who the hire is. Let this play out before you are ready to run him out of town. I'm not saying that he may not deserve being ran out of town, but he also may have something up his sleeve. We have no data on his hires at UT. Let's wait for the outcome.

(Please don't take this as me defending DH, only being patient for the results)

.................. I just don't know anymore. This is so depressing. I'm at a lost for words.

What if and this is a big IF that Hart has had a rabbit in the hat all along. All this hand wringing and board watching was just part of the show? Read the headlines today "All eyes on Tennessee" etc etc. If so it was brilliant if not it is a fiasco of epic proportions. We shall see.

My parents always told me never to quit a job unless you have another one. Maybe we shouldn't have fired a coach until we had another one lined up and ready to say yes. At this point, we look like a bunch of jacka$$es and I'm gettin' really tired of fans from other teams mocking us......we have become a joke to the rest of the SEC. I hope Hart gets this done sooner rather than later and it's a quality coach. I was all on board with Gruden, but now I've stopped dreaming and come back to reality. It's disappointing that we have the facilities, money, and tradition to stand up against anyone, but we can't get anyone to commit to us. If the AD can't sell TN to a coach, how the hell do they sell it to recruits?

The point of this thread is and has always been that Dave Hart is woefully inept because of the way he has handled the search from a PR and communications standpoint.

Hart may end up hiring Bear Bryant or Nute Rockne. Regardless, this has been the most embarrassing, staining, and downright awful college football coaching search in Tennessee history...... by a MILE.

I understand the point you are trying to make. However, if Dooley hadn't been fired our fanbase would have went postal already (and rightly so).

It was time for Dooley to go. Then it was time for Hart to earn his keep.

We're still waiting on him to do it.

If by some accident, miracle, or stroke of brilliance Hart gets a homerun hire (don't ask me how, just work with me here) then in six months no one will remember this mess.

I beleived that for awhile. However, it is clear that UT is getting turned down by coach after coach. Hart would not be making these offers if he had a home run hire already in the works. Right now I can see him locked in his office, laying on the floor with his hands pulling on his hair, and trying to figure out what to do next.
