Official "eat crow" because Butch was hired here thread

That was not meant as a slam. I thought Dooley should have been given more time given the circumstances under which he took the job. He'll be back as HC of a program one day and will do well.

As far as your comment, Butch may or may not be Dooley. But we might want to let him coach a few games in the SEC before making statements about his coaching prowess, don'cha think. May be great. May be a total flop. May be both, like Gene Chizik. No one knows until they tee it up.

At georgia?

So, let me get this straight.
You feel that the legacy players would have come here even if poor old unlucky Dooley kept his job despite the fact he alienated these kids fathers? You think Hurd would have given a verbal despite Dooley's halfass recruiting efforts? I think that you are confusing bad luck with incompetence.

Couldn't agree more.

I agree with PJ.

It would be pure speculation either way since he is no longer here.

I do think there is a high probability they were both coming here regardless of who the coach was.

So reading the actual comments by Jalen Hurd and TKJR's dad is a futile gesture?

I tend to agree; in theory at least (about getting more time). The reality was that the team's spirit was broken which is enough for me to accept the firing and moving in a new direction. Now, everyone wants to blame Dooley for that. Although he wasn't perfect, given the condition the program was when he took over and the crap that when down that was out of his control, I think in theory he deserved more time.

At any rate, he will get another job if he wants one. He turned two programs around. Although, I think he has a natural personality to make a career as a TV analysis. I am thankful for his contributions here and wish him well in his future endeavors.

I don't put a lot of stock in recruiting comments one way or the other; especially after a coaching change.

If very word is taken literally, over time, they become contradictory, self-defeating, and some are just flat out false.

So, if someone took a leak on your head, you would say,
"Ah, it's raining."
Then they told you, "No, I am urinating on your head."
You would respond, "Nope, tis just rain."
Right?

You serious? I bet you think that is a brilliant analogy.

I also bet you also take every word in the recruiting thread as the Gospel and wonder why you were duped on/by NSD.

Yah. The words that people actually say about their own situation are much less trustworthy than personal assumptions and hunches.

Did you seriously just use the words "trustworthy" when describing comments from recruits?

Recruits and shady connivers seem to occupy the same camp in your world...why lower yourself to evaluate such scum?

Yes. It followed the word "less", sarcastically referring to the veracity of your intuition. There are these things called comparisons. Comparatively speaking, people's comments about their own situation are more trustworthy than your intuition and hunches, unless they have given reason to believe that they are lying.

So, do you have anything to present which would negate their comments, or are you resting your case on hunches and intuition?

So let me get this straight.... I'm supposed to not believe it when Todd Kelly, Sr says TKJr would not have signed if Dooley had still been the coach? What, I'm supposed to not believe him because you don't put a lot of stock into what a recruit says? Uhhhh, no.

And I'm not supposed to believe when Jalen Hurd says he .... "I didn't have much of a relationship with Coach [Derek] Dooley or his staff," said Beech junior running back Jalen Hurd, who won the Class AAA Mr. Football award... A direct quote from Hurd.

YOU. HAVE. ABSOLUTELY. NO. CREDIBILITY. REGARDING. THIS. SUBJECT.

You keeping your head in the sand doesn't change the truth about Dooley. I could add other direct quotes from Vonn Bells father or
this gem from another top recruit we had no chance with when Dooley was here....

"I thought Coach Dooley came across as kind of stuck-up, like arrogant, when we talked to him," said Whitehaven running back Mark Dodson, a Mr. Football finalist who has more than 2,900 rushing yards this season and committed to Ole Miss.

Think Dooley had a chance with this kid? Evidence says no since he signed with Ole Miss. But, guess it doesn't matter cause you don't put stock into what recruits say.

You really need to give this one up and just admit you're wrong. I can either go with the evidence of direct quotes from recruits/their parents, or I can go with your unfounded skepticism.... guess which one I'm choosing chief.

Easy on the overwhelming logic and reason there Crushy.... Are you telling me you wouldn't rather rely on a third party's nonsensical intuition than the direct words of the actual person in question. Come on buddy.

You're right. There are no exaggerations, hyperbole, deception, hyping themselves up, falsehoods, etc. that come with 17-18 year old recruits. Jesus, it's part of the recruiting game.

I don't "evaluate" recruits like other here. I don't even like to judge a class until after they have been on campus for a couple years.

I merely insinuated that he was UT lean. I did not say he would definitely or absolutely sign with Dooley. I have no idea how it would have went if Dooley was still here. To be honest, I don't think Jr does either.

I am aware that Jr's dad stated that it was not likely that his son would have signed with the old staff. I am also aware that he (Jr) stated that all the teams were even, yet, he went to practice, committed, then his veins suddenly bleed orange, shut down his recruiting, AND would actively recruit for us. Those two statements do not compute. I don't even care that they don't compute; it's just the nature of recruiting. I just don't run around cherry picking statements, then claim unbridled truth (even dismiss the possibility he left) to them.

Jesus Christ. I am not going to get into recruit by recruit and defend Dooley. I merely try to give context (play devil's advocate) around here. VN is like an angry mob with pitchforks.

I will say, that he recruited pretty damn well here given the condition of the program. He out recruited Lane and Fulmer in his last four years.

I am just as puzzled about Bell and others. I also know Croom's mother said that Dooley is the reason Croom is here.

Interesting...

And, they do compute if CBJ made up a huge amount of ground that CDD had lost, and done it quickly. All things considered, that is the most likely.
