Official "eat crow" because Butch was hired here thread

Kelly jr, and Hurd would NOT have been Vols had Dooley and co. still been here. That's a FACT!

There is no reason for the negators to hide their heads in the sand any longer. They don't believe the players and their parents who have stated that Kellyjr and Hurd would not have committed to Tennessee if Dooley was still our coach. They have not taken time to review any of the film from the first practice and looked at the effort of the OL and DL compared to the effort displayed during the last three years. They fail to observe that the letter men have seen the difference in their attitude toward the coaching staff. They fail to admit that our football program is in the best hands it has been in eight years. I realize that we have been exposed to false hopes for sometime and that those disappointments have created a cloud over most of us. However the evidence is clear that times are changing and we need to believe. Attitude dictates what our lives produce and positive always produces better results. Make yourself happy for a change and enjoy the results. It is fun.

PKT...You probably need to check out for the night and rethink you perception of the current state of affairs. VN is moving forward and are "All In" with Butch. Come join us (and I hope you do) or GTFO!

Really would hate to lose such superior intellect PV, but I fully agree!!

PKT's fly is always unzipped. Ready to piss on anyones parade at a moments notice, like some self appointed joy nazi.

In recent years, how many times have we bad top flight legacies in our backyard? Common. Acting like this isn't an odd but blessed occurance is naive.

Hunter and Roger to close out a top ten class. Sound familiar?

You guys have lost all *since of perspective.

Ill start off. I was out of town, and almost gave up on us ever having a capable coach when I read the news of Jones being hired. I of course did some research, and as always (Dooley being the lone exception( convinced myself he could get the job done. My lone worry was recruiting. I knew recruiting to UT, was different that Cincy, and that if he was good, we would see the results. Well, he has blown past my best expectations in a little over three months. The man has proven he can coach, and now he is showing everyone he can recruit. Russia got a falling star, UT may have gotten one too. But only people getting hurt here are opposing coaches feelings, knowing they can no longer cherry pick this states top talent. If this week is any inclination of what's to come, consider me giddy.

I was wrong about Butch. Any others?

Exactly how I felt. I wanted the BIG name guy that could bring in the recruits. Never really thought Butch was a bad coach but thought no way in hell he could recruit in this league. Was I a F'ing dumb ass or what?? Everything this guy has done since he's been hired has been awesome. Bring the Lettermen back, pump this brand like no other has, become the most followed HC from the SEC on Twitter and to top it off, he has us in the top ten in recruiting this early in the game, wow. I know, I know, nothing is done till NSD, gotta see it on the field, blah blah blah. I agree to a point but thanks to Butch, this program is*buzzing right now and looks like things are going to get even better. This crow taste pretty damn good!

Enthusiasm from a bunch of random guys posting on a message board in the middle of the night in March = a recipe for winning on the football field by college kids in the fall. Got it.

Negativity from a bunch of random guys posting on a message board in the middle of the night in March == so much more important? Got it.

Wow, this thread perfectly illustrates that while most of volnation wants you to wait 3 years before criticizing a coach, they're all too happy to jump the gun and declare him a success before he coaches his first game. Well done.

He's winning at everything he can win at right now, but the reality is we cannot pass a whole lot of judgement until midway into October 2013. I'm tired of being excited only to feel my heart sink at the Florida game or in 2009 at the UCLA game. I really really really hope this year is different

Nothing wrong with being positive and also waiting to see what happens on the field. Don't know why that is so difficult for so many.

Wow, this post perfectly illustrates the abuse of hyperbole to make an invented point.

I'm excited about what is going on with coach Jones(spring practice, recruiting), but I would love to see some big wins to go with the spring excitment.

Holy crap this is like Dooley all over again (not that I'm surprised).

And what I mean is not that Jones is another Dooley or he will be gone in 3 years, I mean once again we are declaring Jones "the man" before he's even coached a game. 3 years ago we had the same type thread declaring that Dooley was definitely "the guy". And yes, I get this time the reasons are different and even better, but the fact remains it's March.

And some of you guys really, really put way too much emotion into what is said on here, and too much importance of its impact.

Goat, you and others have informed opinions. Some others have "shoot from the hip opinions". Right, wrong, or indifferent, there is no reason to apologize for an informed opinion. There are others here who need to apologize to VN.

Your admittance of being "wrong" about Butch is not accepted because it isn't needed. On the other hand, he hasn't played a game yet and 2014 signing day is a long way off. Don't get your apologies ahead of your wrongs.......Just ride the middle of the fence and wait and see! Things are looking good, but things have looked good before.

Then join me in the camp that doesn't put too much emotion into "eat crow" threads, and doesn't expect too much impact from them. We'll start the "wait and see, while allowing ourselves to hope for the best and giving 'atta-boys' where appropriate" club.

I know Butch Jones is an amazing coach. His teams improve day by day, and that's all I can ask for. We should of offered Butch first though. He had the best credintals. 4 out of 6 is not bad.

No crow should be required. Im just glad "most" of us can agree UT is trending up, finally. Looking forward to the next few years following the Vols on the field and here at VolNation. I'm thankful I can check out these forums and get different perspectives, information and usually a good laugh!

He hasn't coached ONE game yet but you were WRONG about him....just curious, Do you guys ever think before starting these threads or do you do it for attention? You make no sense at all...Yes he is bringing in hot recruits and we are excited but shouldn't we all wait for about 2 or 3 years before preaching to the VOLnation you were wrong about the coach? :eek:lol:

It means more coming from a MOD too. You know...they are a mod, so their point of view has to be the right one.

Feeling the need to say "l'll have to see a game first" makes as much sense to me as saying "Drink the milk but don't eat the glass."
