Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

There has to be a way to block the nuisance. Has to.

I did that opt out website so maybe that will help.

Was it the national "do not call registry" ? I have a family member who entered their # in that. It seems to help. Allegedly if they continue to call you afterwards they face government penalties?

Hog tries to avoid any National Registry since he was added to the Sexual Offender Registry.

Talked me into a timing belt at 7 years 70K as I needed coolant flush

Oh well won’t have to mess with it again

In my experience, its OK to flush the radiator/cooling system rather than a drain and fill...but dont ever let them do your transmission. Changing the fluid via drain/fill is a good thing. Flushing your transmission stirs up all the metal shavings/particles and will wreck your transmission. The old man "bench mechanic" (commonly referred to as a wizard) who rebuilt the transmission on both my Dodge trucks told me to never let anyone flush them. Sadly, he died a few years ago. The dealerships closeby used to bring him their rebuilds, directly to his bench. When he finished the requisite black magic of rebuilding them, he called them and they came and grabbed the trans off of his bench. Thus the term "bench mechanic". I did not know these existed until a friend told me about him. If you ever see an exploded diagram of an automatic transmission, you will understand that mere mortals would never even attempt to rebuild one lmao. I dont think anyone actually knows exactly why or how they work...pretty sure it's black magic though.

They are doing a tranny flush as torque converter is slipping
Kept my fluid changed so not sure why I have an issue
Honda is known to have problems though even non CVT

Started on our construction loan Tuesday and since then my phone has been blowing up with lenders calling, literally have had over 100 calls and texts. Does anyone know of a way to stop that crap other than ignoring them? I messed up and answered a few, got ugly with a couple and damn if the same number wasn't calling again within a minute.

If it's the same number just block it.

How these azz holes get our number and info makes me mad. Why did that data company that got hacked have our info?

It's way past time to burn some CEOs running companies failing to secure info they have on us. First most shouldn't even have it because we've never dealt with the company in the first place. Second they seem to feel no obligation to secure the info they shouldn't even have. I still think this doesn't get serious attention until CEOs, CIOs, etc start getting jail time - the penalty has to be personal or these azzwipes will continue to deal in the illicit trade of our private information.

I read an article sometime back that there is a new breed of company gaining access to info stored in car computers and they are using it like credit companies did financial info. Only these companies are brokering the data to insurors. Apparently it includes speeds driven, mileage, record of rapid acceleration/deceleration ... In other words we are simply the objects of information collection and distribution, we can't control it, and no one is looking out for our interests - probably because we as individuals don't compete well when it comes to bribing legislators.

I've always wanted a way to "reach out and touch someone" when getting robocalls. Like something that would give them a jolt or fry their equipment.
Millennials have a great system. My daughter doesn't answer her phone if the caller is not in her contact list. Her voice msg instructs caller to send a text. People who need to get in touch do via text. Solicitors mostly do not but the ones who do she simply deletes and blocks at her convenience. Brilliant
