Am told UT & Greg Schiano had a understanding of terms & now Schiano’s side is seeking compensation for breaking the agreement off. Wow

Well, we all said that Currie would look like a genius or an incompetent fool when this was over. I'm thinking that genius flew out the window today.

This! Me too. Thank you DTO, Boro, UTVolinExile, Knucks, Tuesday, AV, Beav, etc.. and anyone else that has brought info.

I’ll say this. I truly have zero clue what has happened. Like I said before, i haven’t heard any new info for about 10-14 days. However, some of my friends are former players. They all are shocked and pissed based off of what they knew. They feel like Currie lied and they were played.

Secondly, a few friends that are in the coaching profession and have zero ties to UT, heard nuggets of info about Gruden.

I’m shocked that this is happening. I didn’t even post most of the good comments that were made to me.

I’m hoping to find out what happened soon.

If you hate me, fine. I never mislead though. There would have to be a giant grand conspiracy if all the info was lies.

You speaketh the truth!

I wouldn't say he did the fanbase any favors by throwing little hints here and there without making a statement.

No more updates. Sorry.

I feel extremely betrayed tonight. On a whole lot of levels. I'll still be here, post here, but as my favorite gif says, playtime's over.

I for one really appreciate all you've done over the last several months. I'm very sorry to hear about the multiple levels of betrayals... Hope you keep posting, even without your updates. :hi:

As much as it pains me to say this, it might be in our best interest to bring in someone like Miles. He'll give us some stability and will win some games along the way until we can get a competent administration in place and hire our coach for the future. Flame away. :)

If it's not Gruden, then this may be the only plug that will keep this ship from going under.

I'm not much into conspiracy theories but I think you're right.

One side is Ergen and a group of boosters that want the program to be back in the national spotlight.

On the other you have Haslems who ramrodded Currie into the AD spot to be his puppet.

I would guess that there have been 2 sets if negotiations going on. Currie carrying his out with direction from the Haslams and the other side with Gruden, which is where most of of our info has been coming from.

There is no way Currie went rogue. He had to get approval of some sort before proceeding.

Its just inconceivable that the Haslams or Currie thought this would fly.

They have had their strangle hold on the university and the football program for so long that it has basically destroyed it.

Tonight, it was torn from their hands. Currie will be gone. No way he survived this. The Ergen side will get their AD candidate in place (Blackburn), and they will proceed to get the coach they want.

I'm glad my life is simple and I don't have to be a part of crap like this. Lol

I'll stick with my barns and building my business up.

But I do think this was a power struggle and it came to a head tonight.

The arrogance of the Haslams was their undoing.

This is essentially what Beaver laid out a month ago. I'm with you though, this triple secret power struggle stuff is beyond me. Sad what it's doing to our university.

From my State Represenative Susan Lynn:

For more than an hour and a half I have been texting on a group text with 73 other state legislators about the possibility of Greg Schiano being named the new head coach of UT. Schiano worked at Penn State during the Sandusky years, and according to a July 2016 Washington Post article, Mike McQueary testified that Schiano knew of Sandusky's abuse. Over this hour and a half, we have had our leadership contact Depitro, the Trustees and the Governor to express our strong objections to his hiring if true. We are still texting...

I know I will get hammered for this, especially by the young pups on here that wasn't around in the 90's,early 2000's.We need to bring CPF back for a couple of years, make Tee and Kevin Steele the highest paid coordinators in college football and ride it out and see what happens. Hell, it can't get no worse. Also fire Currie and bring DB in. Im ready for the sh!t,so fire away.

All along it has been either:

1. Most incompetent university (not Currie, not Davenport, whole damn thing) in the entire country

or

2. Master plan to hire Gruden

It appears it has been #1 all along, which is just... unbelievable, considering Butch has been 'gone' for quite some time. With all the lead up to today... what else has happened? Sumlin fired and Jimbo supposedly going there -- SAME DAY... Mullen to Florida, Kelly to UCLA... and here we sit like a bunch of fools.

We should just shut it down, honestly.

Freak, congrats on the ad revenue.

“Insiders” or guys with “insider info” need to stop trolling.

Gruden needs to squash all rumors so fans can move on.

Currie needs to resign.

UT needs to just offer Kiffin and be done with it.

Another alternative would be to just cancel the program altogether since it’s obvious they don’t care about it and continue to bury UT. They have turned a once proud program into the laughing stock of the nation.

Respectfully, he knew of the grumors and was asked specifically about the job several times. Then on the radio show he intentionally mentions rocky top completely out of left field knowing exactly what it would do. That's not connecting dots by crazed fans. That's trolling. Maybe he really wants the job and was hinting for currie to call

Because Brock Huard was going there to announce the game. It wasn't completely out of left field. He loves UT...doesn't necessarily mean he wants to coach here.

We would all like that, but doesn't make it certain.

That will be the final nail in Currie's coffin if true.

UT should call Schiano's bluff and say, "Okay, big boy, if that is how you want to play it, show up for the press conference...but you should wear a plastic suit."

Did beaver ever say that Currie would swoop in and look like a hero?

Or did he say that the athletic director would look like a hero?

Who hired Currie? The ut president? Haslam?

Who was against the hire?

I think Currie has been set up to be replaced by who ever somebody originally wanted to have the job.

Blackburn?
Fulmer?

At the time of the AD hire, Blackburn was the front runner and Haslam grabbed Beverly at the last minute and flew out to talk to Currie and hired him on the spot. Blackburn would not bow down to Haslam's wishes and Currie would. That is why Currie was hired. Haslam is and always has been the biggest problem in UT athletics. This was all Haslam and Currie.

You are so full of crap.

Currie fired, Blackburn brought in to replace him, brings Gruden in as HC. All of VN united and Schiano fired from OSU.

Egren says go big or go home.
Catching up but this, boom. And Currie may have not even done/been aware of the things he has been convicted of here. All speculation. Someone is after his ass. Not necessarily a bad thing!

I think we're dreaming to think ANYONE will come within 100 miles of Neyland Stadium to coach.

This will have repercussions on a level I can't even fathom.

I appreciate all the real senior members who tried
to bring reserved but helpful info to the board. I'm also proud that I didn't
fall for Beaver's shiny new silver polished pile of horse...t!!!

It just struck me. Wasn’t Currie involved with Fulmer’s ouster? If so that dude has been involved with two of the biggest disasters from a PR perspective in Tennessee history.

If I remember correctly and KV or someone please elaborate, beave said in the beginning that this was all about a power struggle correct? This goes with the buckfama post which basically is the essence of the power struggle. I am still confused as to Haslam's position loaning JG an airplane only to pull this crap. Did the powers that be give enough rope for the powers that be to hang themselves or are we still in a big D*** contest only this time VN flopped our D*** on the table too? How are we better off if we don't get rid pf puppet ADs? I don't think Hart was ever going go do what was best for UT, who knows his agenda? If someone is attached to bama I'm out.

Not a word from Currie. Not a word from Gruden. Or Phil. Or Peyton, for that matter.

Anyone who calls themselves a "VFL" knows that the Vol fanbase is an inferno right now. And there isn't one good reason to let it continue for another hour.

Too much smoke around the Schiano story. If this was Currie, he's toast.

This is turning into a nightmare, and someone is going to have to answer for it before it's all over.

Go Vols.
