If we owe Schiano $20 million then she HAD to have known and signed off... Currie didn't just up and go spend millions of university dollars of his own accord. There would be a minimum of 3 signatures on that MOU.
I thought last night was bad. Today is a day I will never forget nor forgive. I hate John Currie and I hate whoever backed his play on Schiano.
Today is a day that will live in VN infamy. We have been betrayed in the most heinous of ways.
Today we have witnessed the death of the Tennessee Volunteers football program. We will not recover from this. We are now the dregs of the SEC, a once elite program consigned to embarrassment and mockery. From traditional college football royalty, to court jesters.
I'm sorry for the depressing rant, but I am devastated.
Guys, we all have to wait and see what happens. We have to wait and see how UT and the AD responds. We have to stop throwing rocks and pointing fingers at the Haslams. The truth is... NO ONE ON HERE KNOWS THE TRUTH. People are grasping and looking for someone to blame, and since theyre one of the biggest boosters; people immediately look at them to blame. The same thing happened in 2012.
Dont believe anyone whos trying to blow smoke and tell you this was all about a shift in power. Thats outrageous! The exact same claims were stated many times in 2012. When people begin to worry and, moreso, worry about their credibility being questioned, theyll start trying to pass blame at anything they can.
Im as frustrated as anyone. Dont let people fool you. The fact is, were all emotionally invested and its easier in these times, than ever before, to be tricked into believing frauds. Hence confirmation bias and emotional reasoning.
Serious question.
I've been off VN several hours so it is impossible to scroll through this thread and find any reference to the latest thoughts on where a Gruden offer stands in all this. Has it been said that he formally turned us down? How did we get from active discussions w Gruden to an MOU with Schiano?
Sorry if this has been covered already, I just can't find it. Terrible day to be a Vol.
Penn State has? We'll be fine...
I honestly think that Currie doesn't mind taking licks. I think everyone is behind closed doors trying to save face for the Haslams. They have a lot more to lose than Currie simply losing his job. This whole fiasco could have simply been Haslam telling Davenport and Currie to go hire CGS and don't give them any lip. Of course, Currie could have refused, but the Haslams may have been responsible for his hire in the first place. We don't know who to blame yet.
I have exactly as much as I had when I first said it. Gruden signed. And if someone wants to start discussing in the GRUDEN thread reasons why they think Les Miles is a good option for Tennessee, I reserve the right to suggest that conversation should be had in the appropriate theead not related to Jon Gruden.
It's not like I've been out here calling people frauds or liars or naive fools or any of the other things that I've seen tossed around on this thread today. Just suggesting that discussion of Les Miles' merits be conducted elsewhere.
Cheers right back atcha.
I would dearly love to hear Atlanta Vol explain what he knew as this all played out, and why he believed we were getting a coach we would really appreciate.
Everyone else--Beav, Bubba, Tuesday, everyone else who claimed any inside access at all--I can write off as a troll or attention-seeking liar (or a duped friend of one of those). But I'd really like to hear from Atlanta Vol.

If distructive means having some moral values than I will take distructiveCompletely, completely different situation.
Penn State WAS rotten from the inside out and the narrative was exactly that.
Tennessee IS rotten from the inside out, but the narrative being played out is that the fanbase is the cancer, that WE are the ones that made the program rotten.
No coach with any sense would want to be involved with a fanbase viewed as this destructive.
