This is horrible. Kirk n everyone is making fun of Vol Fans due to AD not listening to what we been saying. Even no Gruden they hired a guy who wasn't even on any list. They basically said F you to the fanbase now they will blame fans for a bad hire but we gave many options. Thought Gruden but they can't even get Mullen now we will be stuck with a horrible hire. Hate to say this but go get Matt Cambell

Can someone link ATL Vols account? I would like to read his past statements

EDIT:Apparently I cant because searching has been disabled

Thank you to all of Volnation for standing up for our great university. That makes me very proud to be a Vol today.

And thank you to all the folks who have brought information. I believe that each of you were just bringing what you thought to be true.

And for all of you getting mad at the people on this thread, like others have said, direct your anger where it is deserved: our AD and anyone who sponsored this "attempted" hire.

I believe we will rise from this. Somehow. Some way. My faith is somewhat shattered on this hire but the fact is no one has been given the job yet, officially. So some hope is left.

Hold on folks. Love your Vols. Love your family. Love your friends.

And stay united, Volnation.

^This^ !!!

I agree...regardless of how this all sorts out, I believe Atlanta Vol has the best interests of the program at heart, and he never made any outlandish claims. In fact he initially said he didn't think there was any chance of Gruden being hired, but he later opened the door to that possibility when he heard some rumblings. And I don't know if we are even at the point where he feels like he can address the coaching search, but surely he has an opinion on what happened today...

I too would like to hear from him. He specifically said something to the effect that if "Plan A" doesn't work out, we have a "Plan B" that mostly everyone can get behind. I am interested in knowing if the Plan B was another name given to him by the AD or if it was, in fact, Schiano. He seems like a highly moral guy, so I cannot fathom Plan B was Schiano, but I also never thought we'd even be looking at Schiano in the first place.

Is there another fan base out there that gets **** on more than Vol fans? I mean, the AD continually pisses in our face and tells us it’s raining

Seriously ..they tried this Butch BS stuff again.. When will this end and we can compete for the rings not be toys of control of those who appointed the coaches

A memorandum of understanding is not a binding contract. It is the beginning document to which you work towards a contract. Money is only exchanged after a signing of a contract. MOU's are worth as much as the paper and ink that it took to make them

Furthermore, before you ever get to a point of signing an MOU, any attorney worth his salt would have a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) signed beforehand. That would certainly have stipulations if things were leaked ( in this case schiano's agent) the other party would be held harmless, or eligible for relief. Smoke and mirrors. This is the college agent making money Factory

Exile, I’m just confused. How could Dunwoody have went down yet today happen. How do we get Gruden on the dotted lines yet come seconds away from Schiano being our coach? I’m not attacking at all. That event just seemed like a huge rallying point and confirmation and if Currie was was there, how does he walk out with Jon Gruden signed all the while knowing he was signing Schiano?

I'm sure one of the attorneys can answer better, but the contract is probably not 'real' until signed by everyone. Gruden could have signed his part, but one or more required UT folks may not have.

FWIW it seems to me that Currie had decided on Schiano long before he fired Butch. I think that is why he waited so long since Schiano had a season to coach, and Butch was a better option than any interim. He hoped to make a bowl game with Butch, and when that wasn't really possible, he fired him and struck a deal with Schiano. There was no reason to announce it until after OSU last game.

At what point does the Beav, AV, DTO and others come to this thread and let us know what happened in their minds. Hey it was fun and I was all Gruden and still have that slight hope but it just seems like we were either lead by the nose down a path that never was going anywhere or the path was eroded by some that are not worth mentioning, we all know who they are since it seems to happen quit often.

What if.. (and this is a stretch).. but what if:

Schiano was supposed to be a Gruden assistant. And the contract in question was actually for the DC job. He and Gruden both coached at Tampa.. maybe a connection there. I'm sure they at least know each other.

So it could be that Gruden wanted Schiano as his DC. Didn't think much about the Sandusky connection, since he's currently an OC and hasn't faced any backlash. Someone caught wind of a contract between Schiano and UT and assumed it was for HC, so they ran with the story.

Now Currie and the UTAD are in a tough position.. because they can't say it was for DC without prematurely announcing Gruden. And they can't completely turn on him because he was Gruden's guy. None of this backlash would have happened if we got Gruden first and Schiano came on later.

Like I said, its a stretch of a theory.. but as crazy as today was, nothing going forward will surprise me.

None of this adds up

Even if Currie was "going rogue"/doing what the Haslams wanted despite good intentions elsewhere... why suddenly back down? If you think you've made the right hire, then make the hire and put your cards on the table. Have a press conference, talk about why you made the decision, acknowledge the issues in the past and the research you've done to get past them... it makes zero sense to put this much bad PR on the University, then pull the hiring decision, now you're back in the spotlight for pulling out so quickly, and then again for the money you may or may not owe Schiano, and then again when people come to defend him.

Where's the conviction in the hire?

I’d say Atlanta is on a conference call with the other diamond boosters trying to figure out what to do next.

Get shed of Currie and Beverly. Who to interim as the AD and chancellor
