Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

Will people quit calling out the "insiders", please. They were given information and I have no doubt in my mind that they wanted gruden just as bad as any of us. None of these guys and girls that have been around a while had bad intentions of misleading any of us. I believe they were told things.
However, when Currie absolutely disappeared off the map a couple of nights ago, that was all Haslam. It's our turn to take back our university. I guarantee if you get rid of that cancer the university will benefit ten fold. Our fans spend way more money every year than the Haslams donate and I guarantee that.
As a fan, yesterday was hard. Today is a new day and I will do everything in my power to remove Currie,Davenport, and the Haslams from this university. They are no longer welcome! Let's go vol fans. Lets stand up for a change!

I know this is the Gruden thread but it seems to have lost its focus last night.
Mullen waited two days to hear from Currie and he never did. Whether you like Mullen or not as a coach you would think he would at least get an interview.

Coach Fulmers daughter and my daughter live on Signal Mountain. He always said he has no input into the search and I thought it was coach speak. I guess he was honest looking back.

I believe that to be true..... there is zero way that Fulmer had anything to do with this fiasco of a hire

I literally feel like my best friend has died. Someone has to pay for this. Congrats Currie you have now made yourself and Haslam public enemy #1 . Now GTFO!!!!

I'm still in shock. I can't believe this administration is so inept. Currie has screwed this up worse than Hamilton and Hart. I just don't know where we go from here. I had hoped for Gruden to hopefully get us back to a championship in my lifetime. Think I can cross that off my bucket list with who we have running UT. Sickening.

I haven't saw anyone doing that this morning?.... everyone has been fairly civil in here... just trying to figure out where we go next

Listened to Doug Matthews on our way home from Lynchburg yesterday. He said as much. Fulmer is there as a ceremonial figure only. Doug said nobody in the AD has “leaned on” Fulmer. He sounded pretty melancholy actually and said he was going to step on some toes. But all he really said is there are no Tennessee roots at Tennessee. He felt until that changes, our program will remain as is.

Pretty sobering.

So we are to give these “insiders” a free pass and a pat on the back for a nice try? If people involved in the AD had no idea what was going on during the search because Currie was secretive, I have a hard time believing all of the VN “insiders” were in the know up until Sunday. Let’s be honest, many, not all, were in it for the “likes” and to get attention.

Currie and Davenport both need to be replaced immediately and place Fulmer in as acting AD until we can start a new search for AD.... then give Blackburn a serious second look at the position

While every single bit of this massive failure by Currie sux beyond comprehension, I am going to believe that God has a plan for UT and VN. We are tired of being the red headed step sister for 20 years and counting and our rise back to the top will be memorable and monumental. Not (real) soon...., but this rallying cry of ours has indeed brought the heart & soul of UT and it's fans to the attention of the world.

The Volunteers star is rising.

Morning, friends.

I have no hope left for the program. Not here to discuss Gruden, or even the coaching search in general.

But there is one positive to come from all of this: I got to meet some really awesome folks whose presence in VN.com was completely shrouded from me before this all started.

Thanks for being awesome. I do appreciate you. No idea where the program goes next, but I do appreciate you.

After only a few hours of sleep after the worst day as a Vol fan, we are still in this mess my brothers and sisters. Thankfully Schiano isn't our coach as I speak, but inept leadership remains with Haslam calling all the shots. I have wondered for years why we couldn't get top tier coaches well now we know. Nobody wants to be told what to do by Haslam period. What can we do to get him removed? Who is going to stand up to him who has the clout and money to do so? And who can be trusted at UT if anyone? Dipetrio and Davenport? Currie should have already been fired. If he somehow survives this, our nightmare continues on.

The crystal clear problem at Tennessee is simply the house of Haslam. The University sold out. Haslams, all of them, and those associated with them; DePietro, Davenport, Currie- they need to go. The Board of Trustees, they need to go. Tennessee state government HAS to get involved and get this fixed.

We as fans cannot be passive about this or sit idly by while the Haslams continue to sabotage our University. We MUST eradicate the root of the issue....oh, and Currie too for being the spineless puppet.

No matter where we go from here, the Gruden Threads have always been the MOST FUN I ever have on VN, and it is because of the great people I meet in here

You are one of them JP! :hi:

Me too. Of all of the options out there, it appears that this is the guy that Currie locked into from the outset. Not Gruden, not Petersen, not Patterson, but freaking Schiano.

Currie clearly is incompetent.

Just proves to me how out of touch the administration truly is.....and just how deeply the Haslams have their fingers in the pot. Currie is their guy. Was from the beginning and he’s in WAY over his head.

Seriously. All the s***eating grin, locking down leaks, and hollow words with lackluster effort are evidence enough that he’s not cut out for this job.

In case you haven't noticed one of them is the Governor.

I am on the Board of Trustees at a local college and if I am not mistaken, they made the Davenport hire and had to bless the Currie hire. Have not looked into who is on our BOTs but, it might be time for a house cleaning as doo doo always rolls down from the top.

Maybe we need to be sending letters and emails to our state representatives
