Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

LOL, I'm going to temporarily steal tclower's job and get this thread caught up.

The game was shortened by two rain delays, but they managed to finish it.

WEDNESDAY - DOUBLEHEADER

Also, the Cardinals drafted Arizona State 3B Brett Wallace with the 13th pick of today's draft.

cards won tnight, Glaus and Ludwick homered

Wainwright left in the 6th for a sprained middle finger

VKB, what do you think about Lohse's season so far? Here are his stats so far (14 starts):

7-2, 3.92 ERA, 80.1 IP, 37 K, 19 BB
He's had a good start so far. I still don't think it will last. He's not making people miss and that will come back to get him IMO. I'm surprised he has been good for this long though.

Cardinals won today 5-4 over the Astros. Instead of the Cards making costly errors to lose a game, it was the Astros. All 5 runs scored by the Cards were unearned, but they'll take the "W".

Franklin looked solid as the closer today as he struck out the side in the 9th.

Lohse (W, 7-2): 6 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Ryan: 1-for-5, R, 2 RBI
Glaus: 1-for-4, R
Molina: 1-for-4, R
Barton: 1-for-3, RBI

Current record: 38-27

If he stays healthy, I can see him winning 15 games this year. Not too shabby.

15-day... it'll be alright. Wellemeyer and Pineiro are cleared to get back in the rotation. Wellemeyer, Lohse, Looper, Pineiro, and Boggs will have to take care of business until Wainwright gets back. Also, there's the POTENTIAL to have Clement and Mulder back around the All-Star break... as well as Carpenter a little while after that.

Things will get interesting.

I noticed that Mark Worrell got called up to the big league club. I watched him in his brief stay here with the JC Cardinals when I was working for them in '04. He probably was here 3 weeks (?) but had absolutely NASTY stuff. He was our closer, I'm sure he's not ready for that, but I was just wondering what the outlook for him was.

Boggs looked good... Ludwick had a big night, Pujols and Ank went back to back... cards won

Pujols left with a calf injury... my source says hes heard it torn

I think he definitely has the potential to be a setup man, and maybe even a closer (although with Chris Perez, we're OK at closer for a while).

I also love his funky delivery.

He's a pretty good pitcher... but at the plate, he may be even better.

Career batting: 1-for-1, 3-R HR

He's headed to DL. Things are going to get even more interesting.

actually Pujols has a tear in his achiles... the Cards are going to keep saying strain to make everyone optimistic and they are going to rehab it like a strain and hope like hell it gets better in 6-8 weeks.. however, if they start losing Pujols will shut it down and have his elbow fixed in the process

the Cards flew in Dr James Andrews (superstar surgeon) yesterday to talk with Pujols... my friend ate lunch with them :)

well it seems no none is reading this thread anymore so ill reply to myself

we went to the cards game tonight and watched the cards get beat 20-2... yeah 20-2, not a typo... philly went back to back to back in the 1st inning, aaron miles got to pitch, larussa got thrown out along with springer... pretty entertaining game

At least we rebounded with a win today. Kennedy with his first homerun, Lohse with 8 innings of 4 hit ball with the only runs coming on a 2 run blast by Burrell.

vols kick balls, this is for you.... I saw this at the game last night.. guess who leads the major in winning pct since 7/25/07......................... Kyle Loshe :)

Encouraging news from AA-Springfield yesterday. Mark Mulder and Matt Clement pitched in a double-header, and both looked pretty good. Mozeliak said that it's realistic to expect one or both of them to be in the majors very soon.

While Clement's velocity is around 85-86 mph right now, Mulder was consistently hitting 90-91 with his sinker. Mulder topped out at 92 mph, which is about where he was when 100% healthy.

Mulder (WIN): 5 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

Clement (WIN): 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
