In other news, Isringhausen was activated and Anthony Reyes was called up from AAA-Memphis. Joe Mather and Mark Worrell were both sent back down to Memphis. I don't really understand Mather being sent down. I'd rather see him playing first base instead of Duncan until Pujols gets back.

The Cardinals said they are going to "ease" Izzy back into the 9th inning. He better have his head right, because I can't stand to see him blow anymore games this season. Reyes is just there for long relief. And if the starting rotation continues to have trouble and injuries, I'd say he could be a candidate for a spot-start.

rasmus started off really slow and i finally making up some ground... speakin of struggling, our bullpen is suckin it up big time... Parisi sucks, Im sorry to say that but its the truth... Wellenmeyer pitched good today, only for the bullpen to lose it...again

I agree, I didnt know he wasnt on the roster until you mentioned it... hes still got a lot of hype to live up to

Im glad to see you admit that vkb... I was just about to get on and ask how you like his 10-2 record :)

also great to see Mulder back on the mound last night... Pujols is hottt, duncan hit a jack, time to make a run

wow, best game ive ever been today was today... took some friends (some cubs fans) and was surrounded by cubs fans the whole time... i always wear my ankiel jersey so i told one guy all week that ankiel would hit a jack... and he did... then in the bottom of the 9th ankiel comes up with bases loaded vs kerry wood and all these cubs fans are giving me crap (and have been the whole game)... then ankiel wins the game, best game EVER

can someone please tell me why the cardinals keep Isringhausen....just blew the save. had a 4 run lead....new pitcher McCllean gives up tying run in the bottom of the 9th....Izzy would not pitch another ball for the cardinals if i had a say so

went to the game tnight, another great one... seems like ank hits a jack every time I go, guess Ill go more often... cubs lost, were within 4... glad theres a lot of cards fans posting

I hang my head in shame, d4ster. I started this thread and I will confess that I do not follow baseball as closely throughout the season as I used to. It has fallen down my priority list. Tidwell kept the thread alive for a while but he went the way of the dodo bird.

I do appreciate your posts.

I'm wearing a Cardinals cap right now.

Great comeback for the Redbirds tonight! Wellemeyer was nails after a rough first two innings, and Pujols came up huge with 4 RBI to bring his total to (I believe) 53 on the season. He's hovering right around .360 right now - the guy is insane. :blink:

Only 2 games back of the Cubs now, and Carpenter and Wainwright should be back in St. Louis some time in August. It remains to be seen if both will be immediately effective as starters, but if they can join the rotation, a top three of Carpenter, Wainwright and Lohse would be awesome.

A win tomorrow would continue their longest streak of the season (somewhat surprising that they haven't won more than 4 in a row at some point), along with giving them their second sweep on the year. Go Cards!

we were there friday and watched a great game, almost blew it (of course)

got the sweep, now we need a great series vs the Brewers

Ank and Glaus are HOT, lets keep it goin!!

wow, in one of the biggest series we have all year, no surprise......... the bullpen blew it

villone sucks, izzy is done, franklin is not a closer..... PLEASE MAKE A TRADE

He has had a great season but he is crashing back to Earth and he is doing it pretty hard.
