I haven't ever seen him pitch so I am not 100% sure, but isn't the Heater basically his only pitch?

I've always read that he is a fastball/slider pitcher and the slider is basically a 'show me' pitch.

yeah you're right, but his slider was working today.. he still went back to his fastball when he was ahead and they were crushing it.. he was throwing his fastball high and not getting much movement.. hopefully, he was just a little too amped and was overthrowing :dunno:

Eh... they managed to win 86 games last year with the same sorry pen and nothing from Carpenter.

Of course, who would have thought that Ludwick would have the kind of year he did? If they can get that from him again, if Carpenter stays healthy...

Yeah, too many ifs for my taste.

good to see Rasmus get hit first major league hit and then get to trot home with a Pujols BOMB.. hope the bullpen can finish the job

Was Duke the starting picture tonight? I checked and he was, i cant believe we have had 16 hits.

what was thurston thinking going for the triple?? not very smart in the last inning with no outs and a run scoring... man I thought Rasmus had enough on the last one.. oh well, back to the drawing board.. Freese had a good first game.. I dont like Rasmus leading off, I like him 2nd in front of Pujols.. I say try Greene leadoff, why not, hes batted everywhere else

Pittsburgh just scored a run without even getting a hit. Walk, error advancing the runner to third, fielder's choice scoring the run.

With that said, Carpenter looks good through three innings.

Carpenter just allowed his first hit of the game with two outs in the seventh inning... and the Cardinals still trail 1-0.

yeah, hrabosky just said u have to send Yadi in that situation? Pujols on deck, Yadi slow as christmas, and the RF was coming in on the ball..

wow Rasmus has some wheels.. he could take CF from Ank if Ank keeps misplaying balls like he usually does
