Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Good to see the Cardinals have the mindset that the Central race was over after the Reds series. :banghead2:

I don't know what to think of this team.

However, I was pleased with the draft picks signed. Wished they could have convinced Austin Wilson to sign.

By the way, great Cardinals blag for those who don't know about it - Viva El Birdos - For St. Louis Cardinals Fans

That's good stuff, tiger. Thanks for that. Who signed this afternoon?

They had a very good draft and I think signed their first 5 round picks. They may be overpaying a bit, but they are clearly showing that they are willing to invest more up front at cheaper amounts in order to be able to resign the stars down the road.

There are some prety good prospects in the system right now and I think this signing class will add to it.

Yes it was. Maybe it's the beginning of a long winning street.

They need to win 7 of the 10 games on this road trip, if not more.

However, I fully expect Ross Ohlendorf and his 1-10 record will shut them down tomorrow night. Ditto with Jeff Karstens and his 2-10 record on Wednesday.

Thankfully, it looks like we'll dodge Strasburg in DC.

I can't remember a La Russa team this inconsistent. When they are on they can beat anyone but they just make stupid mistakes. Especially against lesser teams.

2003 is the only time even close, and then only because Izzy was hurt for half the year and the bullpen blew 30 games.

They've got 41 games left, and at a bare minimum need to win 26 of them.

Just too many holes on this team, especially in the batting order. Other than Pujols and Holliday, there is basically just Rasmus who is hot and cold (and now hurt, apparently). I'm also still unsure what made anyone think Jay would be able to replace Ludwick's production on a daily basis, but I guess they really needed that number four starter.

Really need to make some hay in these next three series in Pittsburgh, Washington, and Houston leading up to Cincinnati.

Ludwick was gone after this year no matter what. I think Jay is going to be able to handle it. The more I watch him play, the more I like him.

Trying not to be too distraught about tonight since I assumed the loss last night. I'll save it for tomorrow night when Westbrook sucks.

This is why this team won't make the playoffs.

They are playing the worst team in baseball with a Cy Young contender on the mound and get beat in the midst of a heated race. Frustrating to absolutely no end.

Got to love going 1-3 to start out a critical stretch on the road where the best team you play is 15 games under .500.

How bad are Pujols and Holiday hurt?

If you would have bet me 4 games into this trip the only pitcher with a win would be Lohse you would own whatever of mine you wanted.
