...but yes, if that somehow happened, I'd be shocked if they missed the playoffs.
But, c'mon.
11-13 wins out of Westbrook and 10 wins out of Lohse is still unbelievably optimistic.I'm actually not as anti-Westbrook as many others. I think he's good enough to help and a solid #4 guy. Barring an injury I think it's at least reasonable to expect 190-200 innings and 11-13 wins out of him. I'll take that out of my #4 guy every day of the week and twice on Sundays. But as I rethink that let me lower that win total to 21-23.
I'm still not sold on what this offense can do and I think it would help this entire team tremendously if they get Pujols signed in the next three weeks. This team doesn't need that hanging around its next all season.
Exactly. I expect Westbrook will get to 9-10 wins and be slightly below .500 winning percentage wise, which isn't bad for a #4 guy. 11-13 wins would be his highest total since he 28 back in 2006. Expecting Lohse to get anywhere near that level is foolish IMO.I could see Westbrook ending up with 10 or so wins. Zero confidence in Lohse to do anything but continue to steal money.

Good read on Pujols' contract situation:
St. Louis Cardinals on the clock in Albert Pujols negotiations - ESPN
Hmm... Will the Cards sign Albert?
I say no. But it will be interesting because the Sox and Yankees already have long term 1B and no team is going to pay him 10/300. He's going to have to come down from his demands big time. No one is going to pay a 39-42 year old Pujols 30 mil a year.
Other big(ger) spenders 1B:
Angles-Morales
Cubs-???
Phillies-Howard
Mets-Davis(?)
This is going to be a very interesting story for the next year.
