Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Why would they boo him is my point. It is not as though he spurned them to go to the Yankees. They signed him for cheap and although he did not produce, it is not as though he was expected to do much. He was 35 when he signed with them.

In baseball, you're still in your prime when you're 35 years old. That's when the power is full force.

I'm not defending NYY fans.

You can look back when the Yankees played the Cards in interleague play 2 years ago in St. Louis, the first game of the series. Joe Torre even had postgame comments about it.

A-Rod got booed in the first when he over ran a foul pop, and there were some boos after he struck out but not as many as you'd think.

Only if you're taking steroids. And Tino was not. Nor was he considered a power hitter when he got there. He was a gap to gap hitter and good for doubles.

Umm... is that why he hit 34 HRs with the Yankees the season before he came to St. Louis? You're right... no power there.

Don't be mad that St. Louis is the best city to play baseball.

I agree with you there, but that left field power alley should be moved out futher. Apparently team president Mike Lamping has admitted left center is 275ft, and I believe that, not 290 they were trying to sell at first. This is so not National League. Move 'em back!

The Yankees let him go for a reason. It was he or Giambi, and they knew that was it, as he was getting older. You said he wasn't productive at all in St. Louis, you were wrong there as well.

Compared to his replacement, Albert Pujols, Tino was not productive.

Are you serious? That's your argument? Who is productive compared to Pujols? Maybe 5 players in the MLB. Please don't waste my time with statements like that.

Considering Albert Pujols was his replacement, it is very relevant. Now, if I was trying to compare the productivity of Albert Pujols to BJ Upton, that wouldn't make much sense. Get a clue.

Yeah but you just gave me the most obvious statement you could have. Is there anyone else they could have brought in to play first before Albert that would have been productive? The guy was a HOFer during his 3rd year in the league. Is one of the best players this century has seen.

Then you come in saying that a 34-36 year old Tino Martinez is allowed to get booed for not measuring up to a 24 year old Albert Pujols and I need to get a clue?

What are you, a 12-year old girl? Way to take things out of context. Very intelligent.

They'll come. Maybe the Reds won't get duped out of a trade this year and have some staying power.

Orlando Hernandez vs. Kip Wells tonight in game two of the series.

The Cards receive their World Series rings tonight. :rock2:

You hardly ever hear about elbow problems just going away without the eventual surgery. Hopefully this will be the exception. If not, the Cards are officially dead.
