Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

look man dont shoot the messenger... this guy traveled to spring training with the team, works at the ballpark, and talks to the players everyday.. those words came straight from Glaus' mouth... im not sayin hes a bust, im just sayin that he has acknowledged that his body doesnt hold up as well as it did while using roids... Juan will play more than you think.. but since my source is an "idiot" I guess ill keep my info to myself...

Just look and see how much Juan played in has last two stops.

Juan will play LF, Ankiel center, Duncan RF....... mark it down

My hope is that Rasmus will impress during spring training and earn a spot on the roster for opening day. I wouldn't mind seeing Duncan in LF, Rasmus CF, and Ankiel at RF.

I know most people are saying Rasmus will start down in AAA-Memphis, but he is going to get a shot during spring training to earn a roster spot.

me either but theres plenty of ppl who wont go if theyre losing... esp after losing fan favorites Eckstein, Taguchi, Edmonds, Rolen, etc....

I also heard Glaus showed up to camp overweight and got into a heated argument with Weinberg about it... Apparently Glaus didnt want to listen to anything he had to say...

Great, traded one bad attitude in Rolen for another in Glaus. Any chance that is just a rumor about Glaus?

I don't mind Eckstein going somewhere else... even though I do like him quite a bit. He hustles more than most players in the MLB... and he definitely helped lead them to a championship... but my goodness. Last season in the field was terrible for Eckstein. He had a lot of throwing errors... he makes the easiest plays look so hard. His range is terrible. I'll stop complaining now... I guess Renteria, Clayton, and Ozzie just spoiled me for the last several years.

PS- I'm calling a lot of balls hopping over Eckstein's head on Toronto's turf, haha.

In other news... Juan Gonzalez is already impressing coaches in spring training. Supposedly he put on a show during batting practice.

Braves fan at heart but living in STL for a few years has made me into a Cards fan somewhat, but definitely love duck hunting!!

well living in STL and school made it hard to hunt much.. ... killed 150-200 hunting many random locations.. this weather really has the ducks migration screwed up, something is going to have to be done about it before long

According to reports, Anthony Reyes is actually looking good so far in spring training. Duncan had a few good things to say about him, which is rare. Usually, all he talks about is what he needs to improve on to get to where he needs to be.

Maybe he's getting there? Hopefully so, as Reyes is key to the Cards' rotation until the All-Star break.

If Carp and Mulder come back HEALTHY... after the All-Star break, the rotation could look like this:

Chris Carpenter
Adam Wainwright
Mark Mulder
Joel Pineiro
Braden Looper

When healthy, it's a pretty solid rotation.

Cards are 2-0 in the the Grapefruit League. Not like it matters or is of any significance, but us Cards fans might want to enjoy these wins before the season starts. I've heard many experts say the Cardinals could very easily be the worst team in the NL this season. I very seriously doubt that, but who knows... there definitely wasn't much upgrading done this offseason. The young, inexperienced players are going to have to step up.

They will definitely be better than the Pirates. I'll give them that. Probably be better than the Stro's too. They will probably be neck and neck with the Reds for 3rd IMO. (Just talking about the Central)
