Cardinals crank out 13 hits en route to a 8-2 win over the Giants. Lohse left the game in the 6th with some kind of discomfort. Not sure what the deal was there.

The Brewers, Cubs, and Reds all lost today so the Cards stretched their lead a game in the Central. Not that it really matters this early in the season, but still.

Lohse (W, 2-0): 5.1 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 K

Schumaker: 3-for-5, 4 R
Barton: 2-for-5, 2 RBI
Pujols: 2-for-5, 3-R HR (3), 4 RBI
Glaus: 1-for-5, RBI
Ludwick: 2-for-4, BB, Solo HR (1)

Miles: 1-for-5

Prediction: That will be the last quality start the Cards get from Lohse for a month and a half.

His next start is going to come against the Brew Crew, so that probably won't be a quality start. If he can stay healthy, I think he'll be alright.

In 3 starts, here are his stats:

2-0, 1.04 ERA, 7 K, 5 BB, 17.1 IP

I'm telling you he did the same thing last year. Great start and then he gets lit up in a game (My prediction is that it will be against the Brewers) and he will lose all his confidence and he will be crap with a few decent starts mixed in. He doesn't have what it takes to be a good starter mentally IMO.

One total hit through 5. Every time I see Matt Cain in person, he pitches like Walter Johnson. Wellemeyer doesn't look too bad, either.

Cardinals win 8-7 in 10 innings, after trailing by 5 runs in the 7th inning.

Didn't get to see the game, but here at the stats. Oh, and Izzy blew his first save of the season, but got the win.

hey cards fans just stopping into say nice start! i'm a white sox fan and i'd consider the cards my second favorite team. not only because they are the rival of the cubs, me and my family every summer we'd go see the dodgers play the cardinals. fav team white sox second fav cards and dodgers. best of luck the rest of the year! (earth to cubs fans it's not gonna happen!) old busch was a nice ball park, but new busch is a beautiful ball park! again go cards!

1 total hit through 5 1/2. Final score 8-7 in 10. That says it all. The bullpens and the defenses were atrocious the last 4 1/2. The official scorer must have been on peyote. He scored at least three clear errors as hits.

I have no hatred towards your White Sox... it's the OTHER Sox I hate. I thought it was hilarious when your boys swept the Astros in the World Series a few years back, haha. As you can tell, I don't much like any other team in the NL Central... especially the Cubs, of course.

Sounds like a dandy. I guess Wellemeyer went downhill after the first few innings.
