Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

I'll be leaving for St. Louis tomorrow afternoon to catch the game. Hopefully the scattered thunderstorms won't find Busch Stadium, but if they do, I'll just have to wait for Saturday's game.

Cool, man. Have a good time.

Cool, man. Have a good time.

Other than being a little chilly, it was an awesome time. Cardinals won 11-1 on Friday night. Pujols hit one of the longest HRs I've ever seen in person... up in Big Mac Land.

Wellemeyer (W, 2-0): 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 6 K

Schumaker: 2-for-4, 3 R, 2 RBI
Duncan: 2-for-3, 2-R HR (2)
Pujols: 2-for-4, 3-R HR (4), 4 RBI

It's a good thing I didn't go to the game on Saturday because Lincecum dominated the Cardinals again in a 3-0 win for the Giants.

Pineiro (L, 0-2): 6.1 IP, 8 H, 3 ER

Schumaker: 2-for-4
Kennedy: 2-for-4
Duncan: 1-for-4

Current record: 12-6

Cardinals lose their first series of the season with a 8-2 loss to the Giants. Looper looked terrible. Offense was nowhere to be found. End of story.

Looper (L, 3-1): 3 IP, 10 H, 7 ER

Pujols: 1-for-4
Ludwick: 1-for-3, R
Glaus: 2-for-3, R, BB, RBI
Miles: 1-for-4
Washington: 1-for-2, RBI

Current record: 12-7

Cardinals pull out the victory 4-3 over the Brewers. Wainwright had one bad inning, was in line for the win, but Franklin blew that for him. Franklin gave up a run in the 8th, ended up getting the win. Izzy got the easy save.

Wainwright (ND): 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K

Schumaker: 1-for-5, GW RBI in 9th
Duncan: 1-for-3
Pujols: 1-for-2, R, 3 BB
Glaus: 1-for-2, 2 BB, 2 RBI
Barton: 1-for-1, scored GW run in 9th

Current record: 13-7

Adam Wainwright... i'm hoping he will become the best late move I ever made in fantasy baseball... thanks for the win!

That's a pretty good pick-up, Bill. He's the Cardinals ace right now. Should have a very solid season. He could very easily be 5-0 right now if he could get some offense to back him up.

The Cardinals comeback bid fell short in a 9-8 loss to Milwaukee today. After trailing 8-3, the Redbirds came back to send the game into extras... only to end up losing the game in the 12th inning.

Lohse didn't look good, but Brad Thompson looked terrible. Brendan Ryan needs to be called up soon, and Thompson should get shipped out to make room on the roster.

Lohse (ND): 4 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, K; 1-for-2, RBI
Thompson: 1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, BB

Schumaker: 3-for-6, BB
Ankiel: 1-for-4
Pujols: 2-for-6, BB, 2 RBI
Ludwick: 1-for-4, 2 R, 3 BB, RBI
Glaus: 3-for-7, R
Miles: 4-for-5, R, BB, RBI
Izturis: 1-for-4, R, RBI

Current record: 13-8

Cardinals get back on the winning side with a 6-2 win over the Pirates. Pineiro looked more like he did after the Cardinals picked him up last season. Good to see a solid outing from him. He's very key to the Cards' rotation.

Yet another game without any HRs for the Cardinals.

Good to see Brendan Ryan finally back in action for the Cards. However, it's sad that it took an injury to Izturis for this to happen. Ryan has earned PT, so I hope he gets it.

Pineiro (W, 1-2): 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 6 K

Schumaker: 1-for-3, R, RBI
Barton: 2-for-4, 2 RBI
Pujols: 2-for-2, 2 BB, RBI
Glaus: 2-for-5, R
Molina: 3-for-5, R
Ryan: 2-for-3, 2 R, BB, RBI

Current record: 14-9

Looper pitched a gem last night, but Izzy blew another game in the Cardinals 3-2 loss to the Astros. Izzy has looked terrible in his last 5 or 6 outings. I'd rather see Anthony Reyes on the mound in the 9th inning right now trying to save games.

Looper (ND): 7 IP, 2 H, 2 K

No Cardinal had more than one hit, so it's not really worth listing the offensive stats.

Current record: 14-10

Cards win 4-3. Wainwright pitched a complete game, and looked pretty good other than allowing 3 solo HRs. Two of those were from Berkman, a Cardinal-killer. Pujols had a big 2-run double, and Schumaker ended up with the walk-off RBI single.

On a more negative note, the Cardinals haven't hit a HR since last Friday, April 18th. Wow...

Wainwright (W, 3-1): CG, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Pujols: 1-for-3, 2 RBI
Schumaker: 1-for-4, GW RBI single
Glaus: 0-for-3, RBI on sac fly

Current record: 15-10

Next game: vs. Astros (12-13) tomorrow at 1:15 PM CST

Kyle Lohse (2-0, 2.54) vs. Brandon Backe (1-2, 4.15)

However, Pujols vs. Backe is the most intriguing matchup of the game.
