Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cardinals win 5-2 to take the series from the Reds. Looper was Looper, without the huge blow-up inning. It was the Cardinals franchise-record 18th win in April.

It was good to see Izzy get a scoreless inning and a save.

Cardinals with a good win today over the Cubs, 5-3 in 11 innings. Skip Schumaker was the hero, Isringhausen was the zero. Izzy seriously needs to shape up or ship out (retire). He has an ERA of 7.11 and 3 blown saves on the year.

By the way, the Cubs made some embarassing mistakes today in the field.

Schumaker: 1-for-5, RBI

Next game: @ Rockies (12-19) tomorrow at 7:35 PM CST (TV: FSN Midwest)

Joel Pineiro (2-2, 3.75) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-2, 5.90)

Mulder got roughed up for the second straight outing down in AAA-Memphis.

6 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Stats with Memphis: 0-2, 13.03 ERA

Not very encouraging.

Cardinals beat the Rockies 6-5 tonight, despite a poor outing from Pineiro. La Russa pulled Pineiro after 3 innings because he was getting rocked. He just didn't look right. He hit a big two-run double, though.

Parisi made his major league debut tonight for the Cards, and pitched 2 shutout innings.

Pineiro (ND): 3 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, K; 1-for-2, 2 RBI
