What do you think about him shutting everything down and putting 30,000 oil workers out of work??
My understanding is that everything wasn't shut down, just drilling operations. Now, it is entirely possible that the drilling operations employ the vast majority of people on rigs - but the pumping of the 1.7 million barrels of oil we get from the gulf per day is continuing, no?
there seems to be a lot of confusion about this. my understanding it was only deep water drilling operations which shouldn't have a material effect, but i just saw a research report that implies it's everything.
