Orange Bowl Opt Outs?

Players need to take advantage of this huge opportunity on a HUGE STAGE!
Finish what they started…….
Your speaking like an old fuddy duddy from 2020, lol. This is the new NIL landscape, it’s all about the individual. We can take the “block T” off of the helmets and put the players initial because that is who they are playing for. (Before everyone attacks, yes there will be some players who are loyal, but not many 4 or 5 star players).

Kind of off topic, but a lot of shade is thrown Peyton’s way (and those who support his efforts) on this board. We should appreciate the fact that Peyton, Al, Heath, Dobbs, etc never opted out of anything, and had right to. I don’t blame any for opting out, it’s their future, but the days of the players playing for team are quickly fading…..reference the hot transfer portal and the inclination to follow the NIL instead of heart and desire. Not knocking it…..I’d probably do it myself….but the dollar rules the day. We should applaud those that don’t skip, as well as the ones that didn’t in the past.

PS: I know Heath left early, but he didn’t skip his bowl…….even though they played like crap against PSU.
Well his birthday is New Year’s Eve and he knew he was getting paid but still. I was at that game against Penn ST we sucked

I don’t understand why you would sit this game out worried about injury 1 month after the regular season. Was injury not a concern against Vandy? USCjr?

I was so wanting revenge on them for the Fiesta a few years prior. We still owe them a whipping. Maybe we could get them while Franklin is still there. Make it that much sweeter.

I’ve heard Hyatt, Bru and Fant and Tillman won’t be playing
Doubt you've heard anything like that. More rumors and suppositions at this point. Worst fears I suppose. Having said that, Tillman I can see. Hyatt is border line 1st rd according to at least one source. Not sure even a big game from him would improve his position that much. Pretty sure Bru returns so he has no reason to opt out unless his injury is worse than anyone has revealed so far. If all 3 do opt out, I would wonder what their decision would be if Hooker was still starting. With him you know you're going to likely have a big day at the office. With Milton, it's more of a crap shoot.

Opt out has ruined the bowl games. If you’re not in the playoffs then you pretty much have a team that is missing players so it’s like starting over. It really is playoff or bust. I’m
Glad they are expanding wish it was this year.

Never had this type of thing back in the day....at least so blatantly. Might have had some guys who were studs and headed for Sundays skip the game because of an "injury", but this notion of opting out was unheard of. Truth...for better or worse, it's a far different game today.

Hopefully one or both of Clemson's defensive lineman that are potential top 10 picks.

There’s no reason for Banks to not play. He’s not an NFL caliber LB. He’s not good enough in coverage to play at that level
I dis agree with this... seen him chase down someone earlier in the year and hes alot faster than i thought he was. I think he can def play at the next level.

If Bru is healthy he should want to play, especially considering the targets he will get since Tillman and Hyatt probably won't play.

Same with Banks and Fant. IMO they need to play well in the bowl game and would benefit from the senior bowl too.

Peyton was playing for possible a share of the title(although Michigan has likely won it outright had UT beat Nebraska. ) but his team was #3 playing against a team going for a national title.
Al was playing for a national title.
Shuler hadn’t decided yet about going pro.
Dobbs had little to lose. He has a lucrative career had football been taken way due to injury. He also wasn’t a projected 1-3 round pick. Playing the bowl could only help his prospects for pro ball and getting hurt just means he becomes a full time Astronaut.
False equivalencies.

Opt outs = not VFLs

Please stop this nonsense. Doing what is best for their future is not a bad thing.

Correct….although Peyton did have a torn bursa sac in his knee……and Nebraska was a beast back then 😬. But there weren’t opt outs back then. Just a change in the times.
But I do think Shuler had decided prior to that trip. They all seemed off, although they did have a quick lead in the game.

There's regular season and then there's post season. You're only scheduled for 12 games. As far as I'm concerned if you're not playing in the P/O and entering the draft you've done your job.
Bowls are now just practice and exhibition games except for the smaller schools, that's all they have to play for. Time to see what you have at other positions.

NFL pays a ton more now. Guys are bigger, faster. If I was going Pro looking to be a 1 or 2 round pick and not coming back. If we weren't playing in the play off's. I'm getting ready for Pro Days and doing what's best for me and my family for me to be playing on Sunday. That's the dream of these guys that have been playing as kids, to make it to the NFL.
Getting hurt in a now meaningless bowl game when you're so close to realizing you dream is soul crushing. It's just risk vs reward
