Sorry, what you described is vengeance, not justice. We aren't simply talking about coaches and players. We are talking about anyone involved with PSU's athletic department, where every other sport is supported by the revenue generated by football. We are talking about the business owners in area who depend on 7 weekends every year to make a living.
As I've said, the University, the program, and the team are just groups of people. Doling out vengeance upon those people, none of whom were involved in the crime or cover up, is morally repugnant. Is "you can't cover up child rape" a message that really needs to be sent?
Let me tell you an interesting story bamawriter. I have a lady who works in my department who is originally from Pennsylvania, not far from the Penn State campus. She said that those stories of Sandusky molesting kids were going around for YEARS! To the point to where it had become sort of a running joke among locals! She said there was even an ice cream shop near where she lived that at one time had an ice cream flavor called "The Sandusky." Obviously word had gotten out about Jerry and the things he was rumored to be doing.
You can call it vengeance, justice, whatever I don't care about playing semantics. What I DO care about is that even though the university or the program and the people who are in place right now may not be directly at fault for what happened. It is absolutely and unequivocally their RESPONSIBILITY. And in my opinion, part of that responsibility should be to accept the sanctions originially handed down by the NCAA and manage things as best they can while under those sanctions! Like I said, Penn State should count themselves lucky to even still HAVE a football program after what happened!
