Penn State scandal (merged)

What in the hell is the point of what you're asking? Let's make it real clear for you: A SERIAL CHILD RAPIST HUNG OUT THERE EVERYDAY FOR 10 YEARS AFTER HE WAS CAUGHT ASS RAPING A 10 YEAR OLD BOY.

LV, I'm not quite sure why it's taking more than this for them to get the point.

Sehorn on espnu is nailing it right now. He said.."who cares what you heard. Even if u didn't get full details when you hear shower and ten year old boy...that's it. You don't call ad...you call police and you follow up and they didn't. They did nothing"

The other analyst said that Paternos statement of retiring at the end of the season is dripping with arrogance

Well then please feel free to tell me, in your own words, exactly what my position is so that I can tell you that you are wrong.

It's hard to say. You jump around so much.

You're angry because everyone here "wants to burn and kill JoePa." You also think he should have been fired.

Am I close?

If Second Mile was a pimp club for underage kids...Dear Lord.

So far, not many are talking about them, but we'll see. They could have problems if they really did have info as early as 2002 and they let him continue to "mentor" adolescent boys until 2008. Their statement said they removed him from any access to children when the allegations came out, but they kept him on as their primary fund raiser, so that will certainly be an issue.

Pretty much it seems the only ones who did the absolute right thing, legally and morally are the high school administrators in 08. Once they got the report from the mother, they called the police, notified 2nd Mile and banned Sandusky from their campus.

I don't know about that. He's been spotted working out and at sporting goods stores wearing PSU gear, looks like he is totally oblivious to all this. I would think he would have to understand the situation to get to that point. He seems to be enjoying life, which makes him even that more of a sicko.

I've read that pedophiles justify their actions by helping other kids. Sick mentality but something like "gee, I really helped those kids buying them tickets to the football game so its ok that I sodomize one guy".

At the NCAA retreat in August that Mark Emmert held, guess who led the talks about integrity?

Graham Spanier.

Most of Joe Pa's defenders are saying he did the legally required thing, however I could easily see the conversation changing from him taking the minimal action to actually conspiring to cover up a crime. Now that the president is out and Paterno is out, it won't take long before the collective story starts to fall apart and someone confesses that they knew about this longer than they've admitted and worked to keep things quiet. This will get even uglier over the next few months.

Jay Bilas is killing it as well. Blasting Paterno. No need to know all the details. You hear shower, 10 year old boy, and after hours that's it. That's all you need. He said you hear fire you don't run tell the ad you call the fire department and the lack of follow up just mind boggles him

Jay Bilas is again proving why he's one of the best sports analyst around.

I'd like to just spell out this piece of grand jury testimony, so it's out there for everyone to read in black and white:

"Paterno called Tim Curley ("Curley"), Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate supervisor, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."

Let that sink in, and someone please tell me again how Paterno "didn't have all the facts" or "didn't truly know the extent of what was going on".

Espnu is really blasting it right now. Love how Sehorn is saying they were just trying to cover their own butts not protect a 10 yr old. Sehorn also said...you took keys away? That's it? Don't do this on campus is all you said. You condoned this by all of your actions....great comment by Sehorn. If your not watching espnu then tape it. Best coverage so far

Somehow, this has no impact on them. It's already been posted multiple times.

lol I didnt say that, if thats what you interpreted then I hate to inform you....

I believe I used the phrase "compromise" as in his job. None of you guys know what you would have done in McQyueary's position, none of you. Sorry.

I am assuming you are specifically referring to what McQueary testified to the grand jury inquiry into what he witnessed per Sandusky sodomizing a young male child in the PSU facilities in '02?

If so, what I know I would do considering the gravity of the event, I would have most certainly intervened. For me, if an adult has the capacity to do this alleged act to a child then I just wholly assume that raping the child is not their only intent, I would 100% assume that the life of the child would be in danger. Intervening in my mind would not only be ending the events that McQueary witnessed, but to walk away would be to ignore the potential and obvious danger of loss of life in the case of the child at the hands of an obviously disturbed adult, in this case Sandusky.

The Penn State BOT has requested Mike McQueary not be allowed on sidelines Saturday.

By the way Law, I was wrong. I thought this wouldn't have a big impact on the program if they cleaned house. With the Feds being involved, the cover up that has happened, and the potential of Second Mile basically being a pimp house, this will destroy them.
