Penn State scandal (merged)

Somehow, this has no impact on them. It's already been posted multiple times.

Ok then. How about this part, for clarity:

"Although Schultz oversaw the University Police as part of his position, he never reported the 2002 incident to the University Police or other police agency, never sought or reviewed a police report on the 1998 incident and never attempted to learn the identity of the child in the shower in 2002."

For everyone who thinks Paterno notified the police by telling Schultz...

When they said Paterno released the statement that he wouldn't go to the stadium Saturday to be any kind of distraction May rolled his eyes like he couldn't believe it

The Penn State BOT has requested Mike McQueary not be allowed on sidelines Saturday.

Yeah, they are claiming a concern for his own safety. They just need to start being straight forward on everything, not make this blanket statements.

PSU only seems interested in protecting their own institution. They have 100% lost sight on the fact that young children are victims here of extremely damaging events. They need to consider everything they do from this point forward to be in the best interest of these unfortunate victims.

Jason Sehorn has basically said "**** your emotions Mike McQueary. That kid has it much worse."

It aggravates me that the Paterno camp is trying to pass off that all they were told was "hoarsing around" "fondling" and "touching" "in the shower". Do you seriously need more?

Wait...did I just hear that Paterno is being charged with failure to report?

I'd like to just spell out this piece of grand jury testimony, so it's out there for everyone to read in black and white:

"Paterno called Tim Curley ("Curley"), Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate supervisor, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy."

Let that sink in, and someone please tell me again how Paterno "didn't have all the facts" or "didn't truly know the extent of what was going on".

OK I'll take this one since it was probably directed at me. First of all I have said that its entirely possible that Paterno may have misrepresented (lied) to the GJ about what he knew. Actually I said he may have "mislabeled" it, and as most of you must realize by now, Joe has not been exactly playing with a full deck for quite some time now. He is at best right now a doddering old senile idiot and a shell of his former self. But you guys will probably want to argue about that too. lol

Now, it is entirely possible that Joe didnt really understand the gravity or extent of the abuse by Sandusky. His generation has little experience or exposure to the subject of pedophilia, unless they themselves are the ones committing these heinous crimes. It is likeky that JP didnt know all the details, or even believed Sandusky wasnt guilty of what was reported. Thats entirely plausible, the 98 incident not withstanding.

Again, this proposition that you guys know everything there is to know is pretty ridiculous, and its not so much about what that Report says, its what it doesn't say or address.

Then I guess he'd have no problem with his child getting sodomized and having nothing done to the raper for 10 years as long as the person who witnessed it told his boss, who tells the person to not bring any more kids to the office.

And of course still have keys.

Is he ignorant or senile? I've seen you use both excuses now.

This is the height of hypocrisy. We can't use facts that Joe Pa said as evidence, but you can assume that "well he's senile so he shouldn't be held responsible for not reporting child rape." Your arguments have reached rock bottom.

Paterno got fired because he put PSUs image (or his) in front of doing what was right in regards to these kids. He's not the criminal in this case, but the sad part is Im still not sure he really understands the weight in all this, its not about firing a legendary football coach, its about multiple counts of child molesting. This goes way above football and PSU.
