Penn State scandal (merged)

Wow, such intimate knowledge of NAMBLA. lol

JP has been in State College for what....66 years? Its is entirely possible that he has been sheltered from the subject of pedophilia for all these years don't you think. You guys are truly hilarious, if all this weren't so sad I would have to call this the best free entertainment I've ever had. Now you are associating Paterno with NAMBLA? This is just too much, And BTW, just because NAMBLA exists doesn't mean Paterno knows anything about them, or especially that if he doesn't know about them that he approves of it!

The fact that you could even conceive this is extremely sad. State College isn't a damn deserted island.

That is a key part that is missing from the story so far. The 98 incident was reported to the campus police who turned it over to the State Police. They investigated with the assistance of the boy's mother and had taped conversations but Sandusky never fully admitted the deed. Consequently the DA felt he did not have enough evidence to prosecute and dropped the case.

Within a few months of that event, Sandusky was told that he was no longer the heir apparent/head coach in waiting and in fact, no longer employed by the university. He was given Emeritus status which gave him an office, parking spot, facility access etc, but required to resign from coaching.

There is a logical leap that the allegations led to the resignation, but that has not been proven yet.
That's a key part many here are missing.

.

Jerry Lauro, an investigator with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, testified to the grand jury Sandusky admitted to him and Schreffler in an interview that he hugged the boy while naked in the shower and that he knew it was wrong.

He did admit to it at that point, even stated he wished he was dead.

I agree. But there's other ways to do that than to say you're a douchebag etc.

I think the issue with that is, they are too damned hard headed to listen to reason.

Typical teenage mentality. Always right about everything, never admit wrong. I see it in some of these posts.

LawVol is just tired of repeating what we all have been trying to get through to some of these guys who just dont get it and never will.

You're right. Paterno had no idea what was happening. The GA just came up and said, "Hey coach, I just saw Sandusky railing this kid in the shower." And Jo Pa responded, "Hahahahaha. Good one, man, how bout a promotion to WR coach and recruiting coordinator."

Yep, that sounds plausible to me.

I keep forgetting that you know all the facts of the case. My bad. Continue on.

No, I, like everyone here that's literate knows what Paterno told the grand jury. And, he told the grand jury that he was told of an eyewitness report of Sandusky fondling kids. What in the hell else do you need to find that doing nothing for 10 years wasn't a great idea?

I get tired of repeating also, but doesn't cause me to violate the terms of the forum.

It is sad that you continue to use the generational argument to support him. I agree that we need to let the facts come out but to say that he was shielded from pedophilia is ridiculous and somewhat discriminatory against octogenarians.

And I did not associate Joe Pa with NAMBLA, though I might suggest that Sandusky was their poster child.

Seriously, did he really need to know about pedophilia to understand that a man raping a boy was wrong?

So a town where a major university is located could be so isolated from reality and society that citizens in the town wouldn't know about child exploitation? That is the absolute dumbest thing I have ever heard.

No its not, and I'm not talking about the general population of State College you dink, I'm talking about one old man who I seriously doubt is a fan of Geraldo, Nancy Grace, Doctor Phil, or Jerry Springer or even has a clue how widespread this kind of thing is in our society today.

Is JP isolated from reality? It would sure appear so.

Does anyone have any theories about if the DA's disappearance is linked in all this?

From what I've read about the DA, there are no connections at this point. Problem is, it's like he just fell off the face of the earth. No clues, leads, nothing.

Fondling in the shower with a 10 yr old boy isn't the same as rape. If Paterno was told it was rape, he would have done something. This will be his defense. This makes it even more sickening because it's a lie, or at worse, truth, and Paterno didn't see anything wrong with it.

I've had people spit in my face, had piss thrown at me, Knifes/guns pulled on me, kicked, punched, scratched. Had people threaten to kill me to my face.

I'm not getting too upset about someone calling me a name that I will never probably meet and that has probably never been with a real woman
