Penn State scandal (merged)

I'm understanding a lot of that PA, really I am, but would you disagree that his allowed access falls in the hands of the Admin rather than the football coach?

Directly with the old bastard first. He is the first person that the GA came to within the school. He knew then and didn't do anything. I say he didn't do anything because its basically that. The rapist, the old bastard, the AD, and I imagine someone else met in an office and told the GA that if he said anything his career would be over. So actually they all should be held accountable.

The fact that major media outlets, in addition to ESPN and sports blogs, suggests to me that this story is going to get a ton of coverage. I also think that the more we learn about what was going on the worse JoePa is going to look.

Yea we are seeing what the culture there is.

I'll say this, at times it does appear that the kittens are running "the oopty fn oop".

Rumors have swirled up at University Park for years on Sandusky and inapprorpiate behavior.

By "what rumors" I mean as what jopa would be directed to say by his lawyers. Another reason the question of legally responsible is ridiculous. Common sense trumps who is legally in charge of reporting the incident.
Just watched the thing on ESPN. Lady in the background was one the ugliest people I have ever seen. I know that's mean, but dayum.

What is ESPN saying?

JoePa, "As Coach Sandusky was retired from our coaching staff at that time, I referred the matter to university administrators."

If he wasn't employed at the time, why was it a University matter?

A crime was being committed on a public university campus. I think the school had a right to be informed.

And I don't know what TRECS is or who that guy you referenced is.

Sorry

Ok, but referring the matter to University officials is just kicking the can. It's not like he also told University officials, he only told university officials

This is what costs him. Court of public opinion may not let Joe slide on this.

Court of Public Opinion most likely finds him equally as guilty due to the nature of the crime.

No way anyone sees him as being "equally" guilty. I just think JoePa and the GA were faced with a very difficult situation, and they made the wrong decision for the wrong reasons. It tarnishes JoePa's legacy because everybody thought that his taking the right action would be a no brainer. Instead, in a somewhat spineless fashion, he passed the buck and did the least he was legally obligated to do.
