the book reviews are brutal
Whe you finish this book you wish it was longer. Like a good movie you do not want it to end. It describes a man who has done some great things to help others. How many college football coaches would turn down 3 head coaching opportunities at big-time schools to stay in "Happy Valley". A couple who could not have their own children. Then adopted 6. Not all in infancy. A man who took in foster children and at the same time ran the defense for one of college football's elite teams for 23 years. A kid who never grew up. Yet a person who is so selfless it defies human ego. Everyone reading this should do themselves a moral favor and contribute money to the Second Mile. (...)
This is going to go down as one of the biggest scandals ever in college football.
I imagine there will be close to a hundred victims come forward when this is all said and done. He did this for at least 15 years they know of through his "charity." So guessing 5 or 6 a year.
I like how Joe Paterno has his son run out there to talk to the press to run interference for him. Whether this was planned or by accident it his son needs to step aside and let his dad speak for himself. It "looks" cowardly or deceptive.
I'd tell Joe Paterno you have one game. This Saturday is it. Say good bye, say farewell to the fans, and close the door. Some say he doesnt deserve that but he cant stay on that's for sure. If Bruce Pearl cant survive and Jim Tressel cant survive over just NCAA issues Joe Paterno cant survive over human issues like this.
SMH...IMO this might be the last year for Jo Pa and sad this situation is. It surely was time for him to and this being the reason he has to is sad. Disgusting. Untolerable.
Just seen on ESPN that the papers and news people in New York are saying that in a matter of days he will end his career as coach at Penn State. I know this is not relevant but where do you think they go look for a new coach?
No one with clout will touch that program. They are about to go through one hell of a dark period for the forseeable future.
Don't want to make light of the situation in any way, but the NCAA won't do anything.
While it'll be bad for the school's name, if they totally clean house, I think they can still win there even next year.

Next year? Maybe. If there is not a mass exodus of players. Three years from now, after not being able to recruit through the stigma of the PSU scandal, the dark ages will begin.
You're kidding yourself zjc. Their recruiting class is just going to get nuked. No coach worth a damn is going to go near that place; it's radioactive.
